Hi All

We got the delivery of our Red Toyota Yaris J CVT on 24th June.
Planned the same for 24th as it happens to be Wife's Birthday, and wanted to gift the car to her on her birthday.
Though there is a booking period of 90 days now on the J CVT model, but thanks to the dealer, Grace Toyota, they ensured that we got the car on the specific date.
The delivery experience was good, no hassles, even had a curtain raising done by the family!
It's too early to comment much on the car, as the car is just driven for 100 Km, but will list down some of the observations. As we have an XUV500 automatic Review link , so my observations will have some comparison of the behavior of the two automatics (though they are different segments, have different technologies, and above all sip different tonics.. Diesel/Petrol)..

1. The first thing that you observe when you start the engine.... Is it really On! ... Need to carefully watch the dashboard lights to ensure the engine is running or not..
2. The Auto Gear slots are a bit different for the two cars.. may be one is derived from the left hand drive and the other for the right hand driven cars.. Anyways, you get used to both pretty quickly..
3. Slot in D.. and the car moves forward effortlessly.. dashboard check.. is the engine really ON !... No engine noise whatsoever [clap] ..
4. Press the accelerator ... no jerk of change of gears.. CVT at work! .. though the torque converter gearbox of XUV is pretty smooth.. but this one is much smoother.. especially with a light foot ..
5. I feel the sitting position is very low.. may be due to the spoiling done by XUV [:D].. need to bring the seat height to the bottom most level, as at the highest or mid level, the steering seems too low..
6. Since opted for J level, so there are no parking sensors, reverse camera... and the low sitting makes it tricky to reverse the car.. Need to get these installed quickly..
7. Have driven the car sedately, due to the running-in period.. but the car is really smooth and quite..
8. The small turning radius is a boon.. and the length of the car is apt for a sedan in city conditions.
9. The Odo shows a FE of 11Km/l.. with 100% city driving and 100% time AC ON... no complaints on that.. will surely improve gradually.
10. The first service is at 1000Km or end of 1 month.. and then the service interval is 10K Kms or 1 year.. which seems fair..

The car is primarily a replacement for our 13yr old Honda City, which has served us really well for 1.75 lakh kms..
Hope the T on the bonnet lives upto its reputation and serves us well for times to come!

Cheers!

Congrats and belated birthday wishes.
Wish you and your family a very happy and safe miles ahead [:)]

I love seeing people unwilling to get stick on to a single brand for every cars they purchase and choosing the best suitable cars for them irrespective of brands.

What were your points for choosing Yaris cvt over the new City cvt?

Waiting for the pictures

Hi All

Thanks for the good wishes.
Simply put, we went to the dealer, we Drove the car, we Liked the car and we Bought the car.

The primary checkpoints were an easy to drive petrol automatic, which could comfortably seat 2 adults and 2 kids, with good build and safety features.
The Yaris ticked all of the above, so went ahead and bought it.
Though from pricing perspective I feel the higher models are too expensive. Thus, opted for the base J automatic variant. It misses on some bells and whistles, but meets most of our requirements.

Didn't really check the Honda City or Verna, as have driven the City for 13 yrs, though the current model is totally different, but wanted to explore something that we've never owned.
Also, off late the service experience with Honda hasn't really been that great.

Will try to click some pics and share soon.

Thanks all for the good wishes once again!

Cheers!

Hi Guys

Here are couple of more images of the car ..

The Car is doing its job silently.. with some added music!
Got the front speakers updated to Mercury Components and added a subwoofer at the back, along with damping in all the doors.

With Kids around, need to get the faux leather seat covers done asap.. need to check AutoForm etc.. and check if they have provision to install seat covers on a car with Airbags.

Rest, So Far So Good!

Cheers!
