In order to create the awareness about road safety, Toyota Kirloskar has commenced a unique road safety programme, as a part of ongoing Road Safety Week in Ramanagaram. This event will include several interesting activites for children, such as:

  • Painting and drawing competitions, quiz on road safety.

  • A seven minute animation film uses the popular mass medium of communication to get the message on road safety to the students.

  • A visit to the traffic park that simulates the actual road traffic.

  • Traffic safety games that educates school children on traffic safety through fun and learning. The games include puzzles, card games and board games

A traffic kiosk has been put up by TKM in Ijoor circle, Ramanagaram. The kiosk displays slogans and pictures to educate school students. An LCD TV has also been installed to create awareness through the animation film. The kiosk was inaugurated by S.B Bisnalli, SP, Ramanagaram Police and TKM representative N N Vishwanath, General Manager, External Affairs & Corporate Social Responsibility Division. Also present on the occasion were M G Ramkrishnaiah, Dy SP, Ramanagaram Police Department and Mallikarjuna Kappattanavar, Manager, Security Division,TKM.

Its a nice initiative by Toyota. It might take time to spread the awareness of 'safe driving' but better late than never. We used to have classes back in school, usually by a Traffic Inspector, giving instructions even about how to cross a road - 'See to your right first, then to your left and again to your right before crossing'. How often do we see pedestrians just running across one end of the road to the other?

OT - Will playing videos of accidents on signals help in anyway? (not by using an LCD, which i'm sure will be robbed overnight, but by using those digital boards, which are usually used in playing ads)

Does not matter even if some of the terrible accident clips are shown to the people, because those who have to drive recklessly will keep doing so anyways and in most of the cases, they do not learn unless something happens with them in real. There are many morons laid free out on the roads there behind the wheels. If there’s any solution for this issue, it is to kill the cause from root. That is, the places where so-called driving lessons are taught, and licenses are given away simply based upon the green bucks. Infact, more driving schools like that by Maruti Suzuki should come up, which work only through proper channel. Thank god, at least in Delhi the situation at RTO has improved to a considerable margin.
