Under the theme “Fun to Drive, Again”, Toyota will unveil several new production vehicles and concept cars at the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show.The Fun-Vii (Fun Vehicle interactive internet) concept heralds Toyota’s vision of a future where people, cars and society are linked.

A Toyota Fun-Vii with its whole body can be used as a display space is shown in Tokyo Monday, Nov. 28, 2011. Toyota Motor Corp. unveiled the futuristic concept car resembling a giant smartphone to demonstrate how Japan's top automaker is trying to take the lead in technology at the upcoming Tokyo auto show. The car works like a personal computer and allows drivers to connect with dealers and others with a tap of a touch-panel door.

Nice effort and an innovative concept by Toyota to mix-match a car and smart phone. Not very practical though but sure offers an idea how the future could be like.

The thing is:

The first 'petrol powered automobiles' were styled to look like the carraiges of old.

The current gen of electric cars are styled to look like the petrol powered cars.

When electric cars really get into the mainstream, with compact electric motors, the designers imagination can take hold.
