Tata Rolls Out 1,000th Nexon EV; Claims To Have 62% EV Market Share

Tata-Nexon-EV-1.jpg

Tata Motors indulged in a launch spree at the beginning of this year as the facelifted Tiago, Tigor and Nexon came into the fore along with the 2020 MY Harrier and the all-new Nexon EV. The electric version of the compact SUV was teased for months and upon its arrival, it did send shockwaves for its surprisingly accessible price tag.

The Nexon EV has gained good response from customers despite the country’s charging infrastructure not being up to the mark. The homegrown manufacturer has announced officially that it has rolled out the 1,000th unit of the Nexon EV from its production base in Pune. This is a milestone showing the giant leaps in technology Tata has taken with the electrified SUV.

It took less than seven months for Tata to achieve this feat and to make the offering more attractive, subscription schemes are also available. The Nexon EV is equipped with a Li-ion battery pack capable of 30.2 kWh and it powers an electric motor having a maximum power output of 127 bhp and 245 Nm of peak torque. It is claimed to do zero to 100 kmph in just under 10 seconds.

For the first time I have been seeing the excellent resale value of TATA HEXA vehicles. I have been going through all the used car portals and have been noticing that the car asking price is almost the rate of a new ex-showroom price. That is incredible looking at TATA's resale history. Seems the car is a hit for it's price as people seem to be fully satisfied with reliability. Even a 2017 base model that has done 1 lakh kms is quoted at 8.5 Lakhs is surprising.

Tata Motors To Launch Camo & Dark Edition Range Soon

  • Tata Motors to launch Camo and Dark edition range of cars
  • The Camo edition would on the Tiago, Altroz and Gravitas
  • Dark edition would be for Tiago, Tigor and Altroz

Tata Motors is on a roll at the moment and it is set to launch the Camo edition and Dark Edition range soon, as it tries to capture more market share in the segments it has fielded a product in.

The Camo edition has been trademarked for cars such as the Tiago, Altroz and Gravitas, while the Dark edition has been trademarked to be used on the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz.

Interestingly, the Nexon, which has been selling well, is not featured in the list and so is the Harrier. But we are sure the SUVs will be added to the range when the special editions get launched.

As the names suggest, the Camo edition is most likely to come in white and black camouflage. The idea could have stemmed from somebody at Tata Motors who might have been watching a bit too many car wrap videos, noticing how much customers like such a look on their cars.

Tata Motors Files A Trademark For The Name 'Timero' In India

Tata Motors has recently trademarked the name 'Tata Timero' in India. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry's database reveals that the company filed for the trademark last year, and it was approved earlier in September 2020. The home-grown automaker has confirmed that its upcoming launches will include two new SUVs - the 7-seater version of the Harrier, which has been named Tata Gravitas, and a new micro SUV based on the HBX concept that was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. So, it is very much likely that 'Tata Timero' could be the official name of the company's upcoming HBX micro SUV, which will be positioned below the Tata Nexon. While the new SUV was supposed to be launched towards the end of 2020, the coronavirus pandemic and the resultant lockdown has forced Tata Motors to push the launch to next year.

Tata Nexon Becomes India's First Car To Be Published In The International Dismantling Information System

Tata Nexon has become the first Indian car to be published on the International Dismantling Information System (IDIS) platform for regulations regarding end-of-life vehicles (ELV). IDIS is a central repository of 'Manufacturer Compiled Information', which is used by over 25 global manufacturers from over 40 countries across Europe and Asia. Tata Motors said that it will provide all relevant information for responsible vehicle handling, starting with information about draining automotive fluids, the neutralising of airbags and seat belt tensioners along with all the information regarding dismantling of components, particularly hazardous substances.

Speaking about this milestone, Rajendra Petkar, President and CTO, Tata Motors, said "At Tata Motors, our commitment to following sustainable practices is absolute. Accordingly, all our products are designed from the inception stage itself with high levels of recyclability potential to minimise material waste. Use of hazardous substances is restricted to bare minimal while manufacturing and now with a defined process to manage ELV, we are laying down the path for responsible dismantling and recycling at the vehicle's end of life stage.

tata-tiago-3-lakh-production-train-delivery-5.jpg

Tata Motors has started using railway transportation to ferry its new cars from Sanand Plant to different parts of the country. With automobile traffic improving for Indian Railways, recently hundred units of Tata Tiago and Tigor were dispatched from Sanand railway station in Gujarat, and were unloaded at West Hill railway station in Kerala, Southern Railway. Multiple transport options are helpful for delivery logistics ensuring turnaround of delivery orders is in a timely manner.

I must commend Tata motors on their perseverence and dedication, the perception of customers and potential buyers towards tata is changing, in the last 5 months, I have myself recommended tata car to atleast 3 potential buyers who eventually became tata customers. Today itself I spoke to a friend of colleague who was enquiring(right from the showroom) on how is Tigor as an overall package and experience, as I have almost used it for 3 years now. I gave him my feedback, asked him to go ahead with Tigor, squeeze for discount and get that Yummy extended warranty and P2P cover, and enjoy a flawless ownership. Believe me this person was going to book a Celerio yesterday, his inclination towards Maruti was primarily on the notion that they are cheap in maintenance, then I told him about my experience as a Tigor and AltoK10 owner and explained that my diesel Tigor has costed less than K10 in service costs. Today he is all gaga over Tigor, obviously he is ready to stretch his budget by a Lakh and half. But still it is vfm, as any other compact sedan 'variant to variant' is costlier by atleast 1lakhs than Tigor, this is where tata has hit the ball in the right post, and then obviously built like a tank!
This is where it is making a difference, happy customers like me are the passive brand ambassadors for Tata, in the last 3 years itself i know atleast 9 people who have gone for either Nexon, Tiago and Tigor based on my reccommendation.
And another point, many automotive review forums including some really renowned ones are still copy pasting the same decade old review line "Tata's after-sales service quality is a hit or miss. Remains a gamble"(quoted this line from a recent diesel Altroz review from a very reputed forum), this line is false, I would reccomend just ask any tata owner today about service centers and you will get a completely different reply(positive)! The Tata Service Centers have improved a lot and infact on par with top manufacturers, all this combined has led to tata making huge progress in sales and they deserve it.

Yes Indeed It depends on luck, out of my car ownership experience of 10+years with Maruti and almost 3 years with Tata, and a servicing experience with 3 MASS in Mumbai & 3MASS in NaviMumbai-Panvel, and similarly 2 TASS in Mumbai and 2TASS in Navi Mumbai, I am happy & content with only 2 but at the same time I am happy with both the TASS, I see TASS is improved a lot even in the last 3 years. But yes, there are bad service centeres with all manufacturers yet my concern being the stigma of bad service centers is stereotyped & made out of proportion in case of Tata.

It depends on luck to get a good ASS , not only for TATA but also for other brands.
I don't agree with your statement. TATA motors has managed to screw tight lethargic dealers who thought they were doing a favor for TML with selling and servicing substandard products. But as TML has upped to game with modern, contemporary and striking cars that has renewed interest in dealers.

I think the Satisfied dealers and now in better mood and have pulled their sleeves up to provide better service. I have not heard anyone cribbing in the near past about lethargic service but maybe sales area is still a bit to show enthusiasm.

The products are doing the selling.
