Hey

Great job man. Really loved the arrangements and mods you did in accessories.

I have restored my Kinetic honda 86 model. Runs perfectly smooth. Recently the exhaust silencer is giving issues. Since I am putting up in Delhi. A good silencer is not available as most of the kinetics are off road here. Could you please suggest a workshop/ shop which can courier me genuine /OEM Kinetic silencer?

Great rim work :)
Thank you thank you.

Most of the spares sold here comes from Delhi/Punjab only. Hard to get original ones, especially body panels, exhaust, fork, etc. I think this will work.

SAFEXBIKES MOTORCYCLE SUPERSTORE-SILENCER ASSYEMBLY KINETIC HONDA ZX

Hi deville_56,

One question, why the frame and tire seems not straight in the pics from the rear.
I have seen many Kinetic's like this. Is it like that or due to ageing..
Maybe a worn foundation bush or a packed up suspension. Gotta change next time.

Yes, I did chcek out the link. But only issue is the quality they are offering. Did you order something from the website. How much did you rate the product.
And one thing. Kinetics are still running well in south Indian states. So if your mechanic(one you mentioned)has a good second hand exhaust . Maybe I can get it couriered.

Never bought anything from them. Even I am using a Delhi-make duplicate exhaust. It is very loud. I doubt any mech will ship it.

Another option is to get current one opened, decarbonized and put back.

deville_56, I was following your posts for quite some time.

I am having a 92 Kinetic Honda KL-01-b-series . It was bought new from century Connections Trivandrum by my father. it completes 25 Yrs in 2017 and i am restoring it . It has completed only less than 37K Kms and is in stock condition. Mainly its a DIY process with some works such as painting entrusted outside. I have not touched the engine and its now fitted back to chassis after painting. I have started the engine and is just great. I am doing this work in my free time and its already 9 months.

Meanwhile i tried to start a thread today, but how do we post multiple photo in one post with corresponding captions. Also cant we paste a link about posts in other forums. I have posted earlier about another scooter revamp in *********.

Mine is also from Century Connections, I suppose. Been there during the restoration for some parts. They had some old stock pending, but was asking for more than MRP for the old stock (some damaged) parts. Post a thread soon [:D]

Here you go.

Use preview post after inserting all the pictures, then type wherever necessary and again preview, repeat, repeat, repeat and finally post it and done [cheers]

Don't think TAI support cross-forum posts (so do almost all automotive forums).

Thanks deville

I have started a thread yesterday itself.

http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...-1992-kinetic-honda-dx-revamp-slow-story.html

I will look the link you provided and learn how to add multiple photos with respective caption for each.

Earlier I bought some spares from Thampanoor auto parts, Trivandrum but now they are having few spares only. Recently I got key lock set and fuel sensing unit from a spare parts shop in mannanthala, Trivandrum. Majority spares were sourced from Aditya auto spares coimbatore. I thought Century connections was closed long ago.

Saw the thread [thumbsup]

Sadly Thampanoor guy closed the shop. He had a workshop nearby, dunno it's present status. Seems time has come to stock all parts.

Century Connections is still there, selling scooters from all brands, like a multibrand park and sale facility, small time business, just for survival.

Friend tried kicking and jammed the kicker. Speedometer was making weird noise after 40 kmph. Accelerator was tight. So in the interim, changed the following parts:

Kicker Shaft - ₹ 460.00
Kicker Lever - ₹ 230.00
Speedo Cable - ₹ 95.00
Accelerator Cable - ₹ 200.00
Brake Lever - ₹ 50.00

Paid ₹ 150.00 for kicker overhaul at first workshop, just parts replaced.

And again overhauled kicker after he screwed up again. Paid ₹ 650.00 at a different FNG including cable replacements, oil pump cleaning/tuning, cable replacements, etc.

Turn indicator had bridge rectifier kind of setup since polarity changes with right and left and no common negative.
High beam indicator has transistor switch as input was highly fluctuating and not stable

DRL is back again.

Changed rear shock. Long pending, at least for 10 years [lol]
Got original Gabriel shocks for ₹ 660.00 from Spark Automobiles, near home. MRP was ₹ 682.00. Wasn't old stock.

Oil level switch. Had a spare one, so thought of opening one up and see how it works.
2016-10-02 17-19-58.JPG

Absolute no idea of what is inside.
2016-10-05 23-08-13.JPG

Cut open the outer plastic shell. First glimpse, its was a capacitor. 4700uF, 16V.
2016-10-05 23-07-50.JPG

Removed the float. It had the magnet, which operated the switch inside.
2016-10-05 23-08-58.JPG

It was thick rubbery plastic sealant.

2016-10-06 22-57-00.JPG

New resistors.
2016-10-06 23-15-16.JPG

Started with a low value capacitor since I changed the console to LED and not enough load to discharge the big capacitor. (Got all connections jumbled up, rewired second time)
2016-10-06 23-30-53.JPG

Sealed with silicone.
2016-10-07 00-09-50.JPG

Final.
2016-10-07 00-10-32.JPG

Even with the small capacitor, the LED was not completely turning off. This necessitated in connecting a bulb in parallel. With bulb in, smaller capacitor was not able to give enough time to get the POST like signal. So opened up everything, put in bigger, original like value capacitor 4700uF, but 25V. Issue solved. Now console works like original. Parallel bulb located near float switch. Low oil gives underbody lighting [lol]
2016-11-24 23-14-51.JPG

Sealed with silicone again, better than before.
2016-11-25 22-00-13.JPG

Finished.
2016-11-25 21-58-44.JPG

Installed. Working 100% perfect.
2016-12-02 23-30-18.JPG

Wrapped the cover with CF Vinyl (Again).

Bought a lot of bullet connectors, already had many, but wasn't enough. Paid ₹3.00 per piece. AVailable at Sivasakhthi Automobiles in Thakarapparambu. Old connectors were corroded, causing malfunction.

Excellent Update as always guys. You're some damm wizards when it comes to infusing Life in Forgotten scooters! The LED solder work was so intricate!.

BTW, Deville & Panache & Others,
I am planning a 200Km+200KM Trip on Scooter Activa. What Mods & Precautions you do suggest?
