Congratulations @deville_56 for your Beat! [clap]
Make sure you do the routine services on time, if you do so, she will give you more trouble-free miles!
Remember, do not forget to replace your PCV filter every 25-30K Kms. Because the clogged PCV filter is one of the main reason behind premature turbocharger failure.
Thanks. Hard learnt lesson. Gave the 30k service at an outside (reputed race engineer's) garage. They didn't change nor did they knew such existed. Engine ceased at 45k km, which was supposedly the next service per them. That was the first time PCV was changed. The dealer always charged more, was the only reason going for outside garages. Dealer's engine job is highly commendable. Now replaced PCV at 20k interval.

January (1) 2020: Itch to fix begins - Engine Decarb

The most annoying thing right now was the black smoke (which actually subsided by the time, but fume smell remained). Knew the issue was injector related, but didn't want any stone unturned. (The rogue mech claimed he has cleaned it as well).

Heard about Car Cardiac Care before, but ignored like any other "snake oil" sellers. One of my friends tried them on his Ritz with a positive response, so thought of trying them. Rushed to them. Surprisingly knowledgable guys. They asked for issues and history of the car. When I said engine rebuilt just 20k km before, they simply asked me not to do now as odo reading was too low to notice any significant difference. I insisted them to do anyway for my peace of mind. Like fellow TAIgers, they also recommended getting the injectors checked. Scanned the ECU before beginning and recorded the readings.

The process is simple. Water is turned to hydrogen and oxygen via electrolysis and fed to the air intake bypassing the air filter with the engine idling. Duration depends on odo reading. Took just 20 mins. Charged ₹ 2,300.00. (₹ 2,500.00 is their slab for up to 1000 cc. Charge varies with engine capacity and odo reading).

The outcome was the engine was a bit smoother. Was it worth the money? I don't know, then I decided to floor for some time to clean up any loose carbon. There was a sluggishness/cough felt after the turbo kick in. It was gone completely and rev after turbo was much more linear. Regarding value for money factor, there are competitors doing for half the rate, but in remote locations, hard to reach. Moreover, these guys are more reputed and the first movers.

One of the reasons for buying the car.

2012-12-24 16-36-23.JPG

Since it wasn't my car before, I always drove it sane, only crossed 100 on highway run, that too only once. Now licensed to smoke, redlined at the signal. Diesel pull was insane. The traffic behind disappeared in just the second gear. Third gear @5k rpm, I was doing just cross 100 [evil]. I am still a sedate driver, living in the 2-3k rpm range [angel], don't misunderstand me [lol].
(**This may or may not be related to the decarb).

January (1) 2020: Itch to fix begins - Closing the Ratway

Finally found the rats entry/exit way. It was through the dislodged rubber cap in the firewall, removed by the dealer to install the security system [frustration]

2020-01-01 09-37-31.JPG

Just unwound the bunch of wire, many of which unnecessarily ran the width of the car to and fro.

2020-01-01 09-31-09.jpg

Cut them to size and rewired and resleeved.

2020-01-01 10-15-03.JPG

These much came extra.

2020-01-01 11-04-21.JPG

Put back the rubber cap and sealed the entrance forever.

2020-01-01 11-04-42.JPG

Tidy bay.

2020-01-01 11-05-16.JPG

Headlight very much faded. Needs buffing.

How long does such a DIY last Deville bro ?
By the way bro , the one at nedumangad alloys work was quite good , but caliper paint peeled off (when we had taken the ride for a drive of 600km full stretch ) . Will be taking to them back for redoing it (I think he used more putty , its better to do with a heat resistant , rust proof primer - MRF Primers and then painting.

January (1) 2020: AC Filter Replacement.

While returning from the decarb, AC was making turbo-like whistling in full blower speed. Found the cabin filter cover not closing properly.

2020-01-01 16-49-28.JPG

Pulled it out

2020-01-01 16-49-53.JPG

2020-01-01 16-50-08.JPG

and found two of it's tabs broken.

2020-01-01 16-50-04.JPG

Then I noticed the cabin filter was fitted upside down and cracked due to stress and was pushing the cover outwards. Dunno who fitted this way.

2020-01-01 16-50-20.JPG

Filter was completely blocked.

Went to Govind, they had UFI make filters, but I wanted new washable filter of new Beat. Drove to Chevy, waited half an hour due to server issues (Surprisingly, they had all parts in stock). Bad luck, got the old non-washable type. UFI was significantly cheaper.
AC Filter - J95947238 - ₹ 713.00 (14% price hike from 2017).

Headlamp restoration lasts depending on sunlight exposure. Car was standing in almost direct sunlight for a year. Just last year the headlight was polished during the paint job.

If the caliper wasn't cleaned before painting, can also cause peeling.

More January 1, 2020: Windscreen Washer Solvent Tube Assembly (They call it so [glasses])

While waiting at the dealer for billing, one by one parts came in mind, so bought one by one. One such part was this windscreen washer solvent tube assembly. Just asked for the windscreen washer tank cap and they gave this, thanks to the no-child-part policy of Chevy, but it was indeed a child or rather teenager part.

Windscreen Washer Solvent Tube Assembly - J95951698 - ₹ 90.00

Installation was pretty simple. No tools or disassembly needed. Just to rotate anticlockwise and pull out. To install, just push it in and rotate clockwise. No leak whatsoever.

Perfect.

That Hinge is a design fail. It will break again.
You could try supplementing it by gluing on a Leather strap (Small piece) to Strengthen the Hinge.

I totally agree with bhvm.I want to help you out,so I am taking cues from my cars cap.Can you retrogradely fit the similar caps from spare parts bin.I mean I can literally take out the XUV's cap and install it on a neck of similar diameter.I am posting some pics for your reference here. Maybe it will help you out. Both the caps are removable and replaceable.

This is my Nexon's cap

Everyone except the Chevy guys knows the design is disastrous. Would definitely look for alternatives once this one fails.

January 2020 - First Service

Started procuring part for service, though the previous FNG did oil change sometime back, wasn't sure of the grade or brand, so was uneasy for me.

Got Sofima aka UFI sub-brand from Govind, they are boosting this brand very much.
Oil Filter - UFI Sofima S5061PE2 - ₹ 446.22 (MRP ₹ 456.00)

Shell Helix HX8 5W30 x 3.5 L - ₹ 2,100.00 (MRP ₹ 2,975.00)
Fully synthetic, compatible with both petrol and diesel engines. Meets ACEA A3/B4. Highly recommended by @Auto_Psycho. Got it from S&A Lubricants at Kazhakuttom, who sells at Amazon-ish prices.

Fuel Filter, unfortunately, THE WRONG ONE. Fuel filter per the previous moron mechanic was changed less than 5k km back, but after seeing the air filter, no way taking the risk and decided to change the fuel filter. Spotted original GM fuel filter at Mahindra Automart locally, but priced at ₹ 1,200 range and really really old stock with no packing, which disintegrated over time. Checked at Manikantan and they had surprisingly Wix aka Mann and Hummel filters, which was the OE for Beat and price was even mouthwatering, at just 1/3rd of the OE filter, ₹ 370.00 (MRP ₹ 414.00). Made in Poland boosted the euphoria. The owner insisted the Beat (and Enjoy and maybe rest of the Chevy Smart Tech diesels) shares the filter with Swift and fits perfectly, but unfortunately, the guy at the counter gave the wrong one, 2nd generation Swift one instead of the third generation. The packing got damaged and couldn't replace the filter.

WIX WF8366 - ₹ 370.00 (MRP ₹ 414.00)

Gave the car to newly found FNG, which my distant cousin insisted without giving me peace. It was a young chap by my same name with 9 years working at one of the finest garages in town (recommended to me by many, but didn't get a chance to visit). He just leased out an old defunct body shop and started his garage, AM Motors. Within a short time period, the garage got more rush than any of the neighbouring ones and he even worked on mini trucks. He had good exposure with Chevy as well. The first thing he asked me was when was the PCV filter changed and I was totally impressed. USP for me was, he was just 10 mins walk away from home. Every other workshop is pretty distant and needed someone to pick me back. Actually, the car started developing suspension noise and as soon as the car was mine, it gave sleepless nights, so gave it there to get repaired.

Like I suspected, the suspension was not worked by the previous guy, the mount was gone and making thud sound when hitting potholes at an angle. Also, most of the bolt threads were gone due to overtightening. His work was so fast that the whole work took just 1 hour including suspension and oil change and an attempt for fuel filter change (he insisted it's not the right filter, I insisted it is compatible). Again, the old moron didn't change the fuel filter, it was old OE 2016 make filter in there.

The new guy insisted of using mineral or semi-synthetic and replacing every 5k km instead of FS and long intervals. You can stay there and watch your car getting worked on and he is open to our suggestions. He is open late evening, so that we can give and take the car after office hours.

Charged ₹ 2,500.00 for suspension overhaul and oil change including the suspension parts.
