How's the beast on mileage and performance side??? As per your own experience with it??
Performance is more than adequate and has never left me wanting for more. Even if the gearbox selects a wrong gear, the brute force of the engine is more than enough to compensate. The Fuel efficiency too is good but variations in speed (like city driving or 2 lane highways) take a toll on it.

^^ Have been to 3 dealerships in NCR and all of them get the oil from barrels. Didn't see any dealership using smaller packs

Getting the Snorkel

With the facelift, Ford introduced a couple of new accessories and Snorkel was one of them. While I do not intend to do river crossings, it was a long pending itch to have a Snorkel on one of our SUVs and what better than having an O.E. Snorkel. With this Snorkel being conceptualized with the Endeavour (Everest) right on the drawing board, the fitment does not require cutting any body panels and rather uses the existing vent / cavity for channeling the air. Even the lower part of the airbox is replaced to accommodate the side entry of the air as opposed to original part having air entry from front. The kit comes with a detailed guidebook making the fitment little bit easier.

The contents (lower part of the airbox was in a separate box)

Original Airbox removed

Rubber plug covering the existing cut in the Engine bay to accommodate the parts of Snorkel

Side vent, Tyre and fender lining removed to access the cavity which will house the new tubing and mount for Snorkel

Bracket to hold the Snorkel on fender riveted after applying surface treatment

2 brackets to hold the Snorkel from the top are supplied – the one to be used on Endeavour (Everest) is the lower one

The most challenging part in the entire fitment is mounting this bracket below the driver side roof rail. To remove the roof rail, the headliner needs to be lowered along the entire length of the vehicle which then yields access to bolts securing the roof rail in place. Once the roof rail is removed, the bracket is fitted below the roof rail and to have a flush fitting, a notch needs to be slightly trimmed.

With the roof rail fitted back, this is how the bracket looks

Front view of the Snorkel – while its not visible, there is an insulation pad between the Snorkel and Fender to damp any vibrations so that there is no noise

From the parameters logged before and after installation of Snorkel, it is crystal clear that the Engine is definitely getting cooler air now

An update to the PCM to version ANP was also available

The most noticeable change post Snorkel install is the sound – with the windows down, the sound of the air gushing in from the Snorkel is a soundtrack in itself. With windows up, the active noise cancellation mutes it greatly. Throttle feels more connected now and the response is instantaneous. Launching from a standstill with a heavy right foot seems to build up speed quicker due to lesser restriction of air to the intake.

There's nothing better than factory option Snorkel which is intalled without cutting sheet metal. Some very clever side vent design by ford. However, did you silicone the joints of airbox to and fro to prevent water entry? Or Ford has provided some seals for the job?

Very neat installation.Very good display too.with step by step pics.
Best thing is OEM spec and No jugaad like setup. But it looks too sleek.I know I may sound stupid but your graph doe not mention air volume?
Is this thin (for such a big car) intake pipe enough to pull in that large volume of air?? Even though its OEM the appearance looks too thinnish. Looks like car will suffocate for more air. Hence the sound which you hear with open windows.
Or I may be totally wrong and ford has enough engineering+data on this before offering it.
How much did it cost you? What was the purpose of all this exercise if you never do water crossing.?
I like the butch look now . But Be careful of:
A )side swipe in traffic with crack in plastic .
B) Curious onlookers touching it in parking /vandalism.

Silicone sealant as advised in the instructions was applied to all the joints post test fitment.

Thank you.

The data from Mass Air Flow sensor with 40+ more sensors is available in the logs but the graph was mainly to show the difference in intake air temperature in a traffic jam. That's where the relatively cooler air at 40 degC instead of 60 degC will matter the most.

The cross-section of the Snorkel and connecting tubing is more than that of the original intake snout. Further, the original intake had to suck air from the engine bay as the rubber seal in the bonnet prevents it from getting any fresh air directly. The sound of air gushing in from the Snorkel head is similar to what you would hear with the engine bay open at the original intake – it’s a different scenario that in case of the latter, you don’t hear anything but the engine soundtrack.

With the dealer discount, it costed 32K + fitting. The real purpose of getting the Snorkel was ticking the bucket list as even with the hot air from the engine bay, the engine performance was more than adequate.

Thank you, will keep it in mind [:)]

Fifth Service Experience:

The fifth service which included the inspection coat of underbody anti-rust treatment as well was done earlier this week and again Harpreet Ford (Sahibabad) had a very short turn around time. In addition to the schedule, the fuel filter was replaced while the brake oil change was not done as it was already done ahead of schedule. With the advent of monsoon, the sunroof drain was also inspected for any clogging. The total bill came to Rs. 8,709/- with Shell Fully Synthetic Oil being used.

how does the active noise cancellation works in the Endy sir ?
I have it in the Montero but it has to be manually activated and controlled.

The difference in the way Active noise cancellation cocoons you from the outside world is something to be experienced. It's permanently active in the Endeavour as soon as all the windows are rolled-up and there is no manual intervention required. Incase some music is playing on SYNC3 system, the effect is even more enhanced.

thanks any more technical details on how it is practically achieved ?
In simple terms, Physics 101 says two exactly opposite signals will cancel out each other. Active Noise cancellation is achieved by pushing through the speakers the exact opposite of outside sound noise signal (of engine and / or surroundings) captured on the microphones located outside and inside the cabin. The actual noise is cancelled by the output from speakers and what we get is a silent cabin.

Thank you sir, i wonder why men's ear have not naturally evolved with this feature as part of evolution to deal with the other half
Btw the Montero noise cancellation works differently, they just gave a 12 speaker rockford fosgate to pump out the volume so that you dont hear the engine :lol!:

:lol!:
Men's ears have evolved even more than that.Millions of married lives, all over the planet, continuing successfully, for decades and decades,is a proof of that!!
