Honda Jazz Hybrid to launch in India next year

new-Honda-Jazz-render.jpg

Since India will soon get the stricter BS-VI emission norms, all the small diesel engines are likely to be culled from the market due to the development cost and price of low-capacity engines that will increase the overall cost of the car. To replace the diesel engines, which highly fuel efficient, manufacturers are taking the hybrid route. Interestingly, Honda will also use the Hybrid System in the next-generation Jazz and will bring it to India too. The all-new Jazz will get powered by the i-MMD dual-motor hybrid power system apart from petrol only version. The Jazz will get the hybrid system derived from the Accord and CR-V hybrid. The similar hybrid system also powers the Honda HR-V in the international markets.

TVS electric scooter with solar roof may arrive by 2022 – Report

tvs-scooter-wil-solar-roof-sketch-02a4.jpg

BikeWale has published an image of a TVS scooter that is equipped with a roof. Apart from providing some solace against the sun and rain, the roof will house a solar panel that will charge the battery. The battery will then power the motor that will propel the scooter and improve its range. Of course, there will be a charging port to fill up the battery conventionally, using a charger.

The rider will get windblast protection with the windscreen, while the backrest and the headrest will enhance the pillion comfort. Split-style pillion grab rails are also visible in the image. The source report claims that the new-age scooters will be available for personal and commercial use. The roof will be made from a lightweight material, while the solar panel design is yet to be finalised.

Though the announcement has not given any special consideration to electric cars, the expansion plans of fast chargers and other infrastructure has garnered some interest among carmakers to take the Indian car market more seriously as far as electric cars are concerned. Maruti Suzuki is already gearing up to launch the electric WagonR next year and Hyundai group companies (Hyundai-Kia) also have said that it will start the local assembly of electric vehicles in India.

This will be the next Demonitisation kind off move - utter failure and chaos especially for the middle and lower middle class. Where there is absolutely 0 to negligible infrastructure how the hell will this plan be successful ?
1) Can someone throw some light on this - Are coal powered car better for environment than petrol/ diesel powered cars ??
2) How can the entire industry turn upside down in just 11 years ??

Ambitious planning is one thing and practical decision making is another thing..
