Re: Spied! Tata Kite Compact Sedan (Indigo eCS Replacement)

If you look at the side profile of the car, they seem to have taken a few leaves out of the Toyota Etios's book.

The evidence is from certain components where cost cutting can be noted. The rear door does not have the quarter glass and is a single component. The car looks smaller and completely different from the INDICA. No where are the similarities between the car. The C pillar also is different and narrower than the Indica and looks something like the Japanese counterparts, Al-a Datsun GO and smaller than the Etios Liva.

The front end seems to have a design just like the 2015 All New Ford Figo's large grill.

The shoulder line looks broad and seems like the car is broadened with increased track width and a low stance to improve the driving pleasure somewhat like the Swift/Micra. This seemed to be a tad different from the Indica which has a tall stance and has a significant body roll. But this car may throw in a sporty stance to enhance the driving pleasure.

Tata Kite CS and Hatchback to come with a white backlit instrument panel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztxakMmRsvA

Tata Motors is currently testing the Indica-successor, codenamed Kite. Among the numerous appearances it has made, the most recent one gives away the fact that this hatchback will get a white backlit instrument cluster, along with a large multi-information display (MID). A video recently published by Overdrive shows that, among other things like the exact tyre size being used for the car, and recesses made for production units of headlamps and taillamps.

TATA Kite CS spied on Kari Race Track

Tata Motors is doing track tests for the Kite compact sedan hinting towards major upgrades to the driving dynamics with a balanced suspension set-up compared to the Tata Indica.

Having received rave reviews for the Zest compact sedan, its brand new model after 5 years, Tata Motors is leaving no stone unturned to improve on its new set of products that will help the auto giant make a big come back in the Indian market. While the Bolt is scheduled for launch later this week, Tata is also working on the Indica replacement codenamed ‘Kite’ that will spawn a hatchback and compact sedan. Spotted by our eagle eyed reader Denzil Anthony, the Kite’s sedan derivative was caught testing at the Kari Motor Speedway in Tamil Nadu.
While not designed to be a track scorcher even by a long shot, Tata Motors could be testing the Kite sedan right from the engine performance, handling, braking as well as suspension set-up. The compact sedan will be positioned below the Zest in the company’s lineup and will be replacing the outgoing Indigo eCS. The model will draw power from the newly developed 1.2-litre Revotron engine, albeit without the turbocharger, while a 1.05-litre diesel engine is also said to be under development for the Kite twins.
The spy shot also showcases the Kite’s exterior design taking shape. Expect to see a Zest-like design but with a wider front grille and larger air intakes on the bumper. While we do expect the Tata to skimp down on the creature comforts, the upcoming models will come feature loaded with a host of essentials. Certain segment firsts can also be expected along with an extremely competitive price tag. Tata could be launching the Kite hatchback as early as June 2015, while the sedan could see a launch by the end of the year. Both the models will be produced at the automaker’s Sanand facility in Gujarat

2015 Tata Kite Compact Sedan in CarToq’s Render

Tata-Kite-Compact-Sedan-Render-2.jpg

The Tata Kite compact sedan is in the works and the car is currently under real world testing on Pune roads. Tata Motors will launch the car with multiple engine options, later this year. While the car will serve as a replacement to the Indigo eCS compact sedan, and as the automaker’s least priced sedan, the looks of the Kite are a closely guarded secret. CarToq’s ace rendering artist has fleshed out a speculative render on how the Kite’s compact sedan variant will look like once it is fully revealed. The car is likely to be priced close to the Rs. 4 lakh mark, making it one of the most affordable sedan even built in India.

n terms of looks, the new car from Tata Motors will hop on to a new design language that the automaker’s in-house design studio headed by Mr. Pratap Bose has conjured up. The new design language, first seen on the Zest, dumps the omnipresent Tata smiley for a more menacing appearance up front, indicating that it means business. The new styling cues reflect the automaker’s new found eagerness to take the bull by the horns so to speak, and begin winning back both market and mind share. A coupe-like steeply raked rear does its bit to shave off the visual bulk that a sub-4 meter compact sedan generally has on its flanks. A notchback design at the rear cannot be ruled out at this moment.

This looks really good.[clap]
But still I can't understand how Kite CS will be priced below Zest. Is Zest price going to get increased ?[confused] Also with lesser creature comforts (a new HK system in the works ?) they will differentiate it from Zest may be the case..!!

My only concern is whether they can differentiate both the cars effectively. A notchback may not be the favorite for the Indian masses. They will consider it as just a CS below Zest. If it offers better value, they will choose it. Otherwise will go with the bigger sibling Zest. Notchback concept will be a new introduction to the masses at that price point and if it gets clicked as like the CS concept by TML itself, then it will be interesting.[:)]

Octavia though a notch back, didnot have the restrictions that Zest, Kite or Xcent and Amaze have. ie sub 4mtrs. Its difficult to design a notch back for this segment as Verito Vibe found out. Its difficult to design and execute, also it'll look like a wedge.

If TATA is placing the kite below the zest then the length will be sub-4 mtrs. Hence a compact sedan. It shouldnt matter how the boot door opens. The notch way or the proper shell cover as in sedans. Compact is a compact.

TATA dont do the mistake that done mahindra with Verito Vibe according to spy shots of kite we can safely expect boot door opening will be notch way [;)]

I personally don't like the gaping grille in the rendering.
Let's hope it looks better in flesh with a well integrated body.

Upcoming Tata Kite Envisioned – Exclusive ICB Renderings

It’s no longer a secret that Tata Kite hatchback is shaping up at a brisk pace to take on the competition in B1 segment – a segment dominated by Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Celerio, Hyundai Grand i10, Honda Brio and so on. According to the recent buzz, this car is going to replace Indica hatchback and will sit between the upcoming entry level hatchback Tata Pelican and the recently launched premium hatch Tata Bolt.

Tata Kite is upholds the brand identity yet brings a fresh appeal to the table

This translates to a segment which is likely to bring more volumes to the company than what Bolt could attain and help it to get back on track faster. Now, after the rounds of spy pics raining in from all across India, it’s that time when we bring you the exclusive renderings of Tata Kite hatchback created by our in-house design expert Bhaktadas Bora after a thorough analysis of the spy pictures.

It’s apparent that Kite will follow the design philosophy borne by latest launches from the company – compact sedan Zest and premium hatch Bolt. The signature Tata smiley grill will find its place in between the double barrel wrap-around headlamps. It is quite evident from the spy shots that the bonnet will have a prominent crease. Front bumper will also get its own dose of sharpness with smart interplay of black inserts and chrome with body color.

Tata-Kite-Render-Tail.jpg
Rear fascia design is a clear departure from Tata’s traditional characteristics

Adding strong character to side profile, the distinctive lines continues to play their role as seen with gradually rising shoulder line. This shoulder line then merges beautifully with the tail-light cluster. The short overhangs and an aerodynamic hump on the posterior part of the roofline give this car bulbous and cute appearance.

The rear fascia is where Kite marks a clear departure from the brand’s design convention. A sloping rear windshield and simple combination lamps that extend to the fenders inject a breath of fresh air into the design. Taking cues from company’s previous designs and going by the Indians’ love for the chrome, we could also see a chrome strip running between the tail lamps.

Re: Spied! Tata Kite Compact Sedan (Indigo eCS Replacement)

The rendering of kite hatch is pretty nice. Overall I would expect the car to look much better than this render. What I would like to point out is that the design of this car is pretty european and the rear reminds of fabia. Longing to see this car in real.

As per rendered image, the boot looks integrated well with the body and in my opinion even better than Zest.Car looks more symmetrical overall.

Would be interesting to see the pricing as compare to Zest .
