If I am successful in doing it all by myself,I will end up saving 2500/,and may look smart in my own eyes But that will only happen if my diagnosis is correct. If I am wrong, and something else is faulty in the door,eg a coupler or a loose nut or wire or something,I will look like a fool with 1900/- OEM part on my head, unnecessarily.
Now comes the main part: How to open the door pad and change it at my home, with the available tools, and without breaking and ruining anything in the car. I am not a professional, just a hobbyist so let's wait till tomorrow.
OK,Done and dusted!
It's hot nowadays,so got up early to do this DIY. Fortunately,my diagnoses was correct. It was the faulty door latch the cause of all my misery.

Now the pics.
There are 5 simple steps in this DIY

Step 1. Open the door pad.

Step 2. Remove the linkages and the wiring ,by removing the connectors.

Step 3. Bring out the old door latch by removing the foam insulation from the door pads.

Step 4. Bring out the new latch and compare it side by side with the old one.Watch out for any anomaly or missing parts. Align them properly so that the new one goes into installation place just as the old one.

Step 5.Put back the new latch into the empty space.Put back all the wiring and attachments. Take care that nothing is missing or left out . Put back the door pad. But before that check that the power window function as well as the locking function are working as before. Just connection the power switch to check first.Only then lock the door pad into place. There are 11 touch-pop in buttons which hold the door pad into place. Ensure that each button is accounted for.I lost one button inside the door cavity and iy started rattling.I had to open everything again to retrieve it.

Awesome DIY doc. This arrangement is Close to XUV and far different from Safari (Which uses mostly Solid Rods).
What they have used here is Brakewire type arrangement.

Any Rust you noticed at the very bottom of doors from inside?

Thanks for the appreciation. Nexon paint quality is of very high grade. I dare say it's even better than XUV. Even the inside door was coated with some sort of gummy pasty material at the bottom half for maybe sound deadening! And there was no rust at all. I have,as a habit peered into deepest of the recesses and darkest of the spaces and I have yet to see rust.

I read your post late , great work Mayankji .
But only worry I have is , regarding the door pad , hope it doesn't start rattling (In MS cars , if you open door pad, rattles prone to occur soon). Touchwood , let it be perfect.(I am damn sure that you will have done the work with utmost care , not to scare you , still expressed my concern).

Thanks for your concern. I totally agree with what you are saying. Yes I would not like the doors to rattle. Let's see. If the workmanship is decent it won't happen. Only time will tell. I will give the feedback soon .

Overcast day, with good chance of rain. Just to increase the moral and to cheer up every one.

This is today morning.

Obviously he has better photography skills than his father. No sweat.

Beautiful.
The design is even better than XUV ones. That honeycomb pattern looks neat.
And it is more snug fit too. Xuv one is sort of loosely fitting and slips around the key. Feels like keys will slip out of that one, but here it is more tightly fitting.

Hello everyone,

I went through this thread and it was a great experience. I test drove Nexon, Venue and XUV300 and preferred the ride of Venue the most (1.0 L turbo), but at the end went for Nexon due to its rear space, looks, build quality and of course the efforts of Mr. Ratan Tata for our country,
I have booked 2020 Tata Nexon XZ+(O) model in Bangalore and expecting its delivery by end of the month.
I went for the Top end petrol model mostly because of its connected car features.
It will be my first car.
Can you share what should be the Do's and Dont's for a new car as I am a newbie in this regard? Sorry if I am asking too much.
