The selected dealerships will fulfill sales as well as service requirements for the Nexon EV and will also feature dedicated charging stations with up to 25kW DC fast chargers. Prospective customers from towns that are not a part of Tata’s shortlist will have the facility of reaching out to the appropriate sales locations through their nearest Tata dealership.

As the first model to utilise the automaker’s new ‘Ziptron’ electrical architecture, the all-electric compact SUV packs in a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery powering a motor that is good for 129hp and 245Nm of torque. ARAI-certified range is pegged at 312km on a single charge. A DC fast charger can take the battery level from 0-80 percent in just 1hr, and the time for a 15A AC supply to deliver a full charge is 8-9hr.

In terms of safety, the Nexon EV comes equipped with dual front airbags, ABS, Isofix child seat mounts, rear parking sensors, front occupant seatbelt reminder and a high speed alert system as standard. With a total of three variants on offer, the eSUV in the top-spec XZ+ LUX trim features automatic climate control, keyless entry/go, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear camera, sunroof, leatherette upholstery and auto headlamps and wipers.

Tata’s strategy for a staggered launch of its electric vehicle in a select few cities is not uncommon. For instance, Hyundai’s Kona Electric is retailed in 11 cities only, while MG recently launched the ZS EV in just five cities.

When it goes on sale in the coming days, the Nexon EV is touted to be priced at Rs 15-17 lakh (ex-showroom). Though it will not have any direct competitors at the time of launch (as the Kona and ZS EV are positioned a segment above), it will have to contend with the Mahindra XUV300 electric in 2021.

Mouthwatering prices.
Nice to see grand young man Ratan Tata at the show.
You have come a long way, from the humble Nano to the Nexon EV and beyond.[cheers]

Why is TATA beverages not on board. If only there were multiple, lets say Starbucks, along the highway with multiple fast charging points. [think]

Glad to see Tata's commitment to EV space and the current price point is unbeatable. When 70-80 KM range scooters are sold at 1L+ Nexon prices are really at par.

I believe this would be the best second car for city commute and would be preferred choice over Kona and MG.

With Nexon E paving the road believe Tigor Electric would also get some feature and range updates and will be first choice of EVs under 10L

I am sure within 2-3 years with better Infrasturcture EVs could become first choice of most people for city round abouts.

Believe Uber and Ola support and provide EVs a boost for general acceptability.

Cheers !!

Tata Nexon EV TVC

After the launch of the EV, Tata Motors has released a TVC for the all-new Nexon EV.

The video shows basically focuses on how powerful Nexon EV is. It is depicted by the reaction of the co-passenger in the car that goes from ‘oh to woah’ everytime the car picks up speed. This is because of the torque rich motor of the Nexon EV that puts out all the torque from the word go without any judder or lag. It is even very exciting to drive and that is exactly shown in the TVC.

I was just checking the price. Is it really more than the ICE Nexons?

SOME ROUGH CALCULATION HERE.
  1. Lets purchase a Nexon EV XZ+ Lux on loan in Karnataka.
  2. On road price will be 17 lakhs.
  3. Loan period 7 years @ 9% by down payment of 2 lakhs.
  4. EMI will be about 25000.
  5. Now, for a 7 year loan period, interest paid will be about 2.5 lakhs.
  6. GOI will give you 1.5 lakhs exemption on interest paid per year for the period of loan. That will be 10.5 lakhs effectively making the price of the car 13 lakhs!
  7. Lets say as per govt its not 7 years but only 5 years. That too will make the price of the car 15.5 lakhs! Which is atleast 3 lakhs less than that of Diesel Nexon top variant.

Correct me if wrong here. BUT if my calculations are right, I would go for an EV right away. 200 kms range per charge is more than enough 70% of my usage.

It’s a different way of owning a car, without any down payment or car loan. Your monthly fee covers insurance, service & maintenance. Plus, there are no long term commitments - you can return, extend or buy-out the car when you want.

I think, the minimum period you have to subscribe is 6 months (please double check). Also, believe this procedure is available only few selected cities

Yesterday I took the 2nd test drive of Nexon EV, XZ+ model.

THE SPORT MODE (S) IS SIMPLY ASTOUNDING. Tata claims a 0-100 kmph acceleration is 9.9 seconds. To test the same I drove is S model and floored the accelerator. The car literally shot forward with tyres SCREECHING on the road. Although I could not take it up to 100, as there was traffic on the expressway, the power boost really impressed me. It behaved like a BEAST in sports mode.
