Tata Motors Limited is working on the next-generation Xenon pick up truck. The next-generation Xenon will be based on an all-new platform. The pick up truck range will continue to use a ladder frame chassis, albeit with additional stiffening, and hydroforming to keep weight in check. The next-generation Xenon pick up truck will be a global product, designed to sell in India and other international markets. Both lifestyle and load carrying variants of the next-generation Xenon pick up truck are under development. Safety levels will be boosted considering the fact that the next-gen Xenon will have a big export focus.

While four cylinder turbo diesel engines with capacities varying between 2.2 liters and 3 liters will be standard fare on the Xenon sold in most countries, petrol and CNG engine options will be offered in specific markets. The next-generation Xenon is also likely to have multiple transmissions options. The lower-spec load carrying Xenon XT will receive an automated manual transmissions while the manual gearbox will be standard on most variants. Tata Motors is also likely to outfit a 6 speed automatic gearbox on the top end variants of the Xenon that are sold mainly in the export market.
