and if it launches here in good price range, then i might just pick one up for city drives.

Tata Motors SA reaches a production milestone of 1,000 trucks
Tata Motors South Africa has recently completed assembling 1,000 trucks at the company’s plant in Rosslyn, South Africa.
The assembly plant was inaugurated in July last year and is the first major assembly plant for Tata Motors outside India. The plant is currently assembling SKD (Semi Knocked Down) kits of Tata commercial vehicles.
Mr. Raman Dhawan, Managing Director of Tata Africa thanked the employees for achieving the milestone while complying with the stringent ISO 9001 quality standards. He also urged the workers to assemble a targeted 10,000 trucks in the next two years.
The target for next two years would mean that the Rosslyn plant could have a capacity expansion which right now has a capacity of 3,650 trucks annually. Mr.Dhawan also said that apart from assembling the trucks, the plant should also focus on becoming a full fledged manufacturing unit with locally sourced components. This should come with time, as it has been done before in many manufacturing plants that had humble beginnings.
Tata is assembling 6 truck models in South Africa and has plans to add 4 more trucks to the list in this financial year.

The Nano’s latest stop is at Jamaica where it will be imported and distributed by Metis Motors. The deliveries of the car will start from December 15 and the importer will start building up the stock from February 2013. The car will be available only in the top-end variant.
Two Nanos are already doing rounds in Jamaica on a promotional mission. The cars have decals which say how much one need to spend on fuel to take the Nano from Kingston to Montego Bay and Kingston to Ocho Rios. The stickers also say that the Nano has a fuel economy of 60 mpg or 26 kmpl, which is 1 kmpl more than ARAI Indian driving cycle mileage.
Though Jamaicans are reportedly being skeptical about the car, it’s said to be invoking interest among organizations with large fleets. Mr. Joe Ferreira, director of new markets at Metis Motors said: “A lot of people are skeptical, will always love bigger and better. I hear people complain it does not have a nose.”

Staff of Tata Motors-owned JLR in UK get bacon sandwiches as Christmas bonus!
Workers at one of the largest car manufacturers in the UK were given just a bacon or sausage sandwich as their Christmas bonus. The miserly 'bonus' is part of a tradition served up to employees of International Automotive Components, which fits trim to Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover, every year.
Last year, the Luxembourg firm, which employs ten staff at the plant, posted £1.9 billion in profits. According to the Daily Mail, workers at the Merseyside plant branded the free festive buffet as 'pathetic'.
"I feel like telling them where to stuff it. We slave all year, they are making a fortune and this is all they can manage?" one staff member, who didn't want to be named, told The Sun. According to the report, a spokeswoman said the buffet was a tradition at the plant, adding that 'There's no obligation to give a cash bonus in December'.
Jaguar Land Rover runs six plants, five of which are in Britain, the sixth is in India, the report said. The firm said that it plans to create an additional 4,500 production and manufacturing jobs in the UK over the next five years, the report added.

My Company is in profit but they invested a huge amount in expansion projects.
It looks like this year too same fate ahead ...sigh.

Tata Nano appears out of the blue in Vietnam
Tata Nano, the world’s cheapest car in India, has “suddenly appeared” in Hanoi (city in Northern Vietnam) in the form of CBU imports, through a vehicle business dealer, vneconomy.vn reports.

Nano recently visited Jamaica for promotional runs ahead of its launch there. Now Tata Motors has shipped 50 LHD Nanos to Vietnam so as to make the dealers familiar with the car before its proposed launch in February 2013.
The 50 Nanos will also be introduced to the prospective customers and to study the market for the appropriate pricing. The cars will also be used to ascertain whether any changes are to be made in order to make it better suited for the Vietnamese market and climatic conditions.
Vnmedia.vn reports that Nano’s interior plastic is found to be unsuitable for Vietnam’s hot and humid climate and some plastic structures could crack since the interior plastic is chosen with milder Indian environment in mind. Tata Motors will study the performance of these 50 cars and make necessary modifications before launching the car in Vietnam.
The Nano will be imported and distributed by TMT Motor Corporation. TMT and its dealers are reportedly in the process of arriving at the prices for the Nano. The entry level prices are expected to be in the vicinity of 190 million Vietnamese Dong (around Rs. 5.02 lakhs).
Come February and the Nano will be will enter Vietnam as a CBU. Vietnam is expected to be the first of many LHD markets for the hatchback.
