Tata Altroz EV Hatchback To Be Launched In 2021

Tata Motors is going big on electric vehicles in India. A few months back the company launched the extended-range version of the Tigor EV, it was followed by the unveiling of its first electric SUV, the Nexon EV, which will also soon go on sale in India. So, it is natural that the next electric vehicle to come from the home-grown automaker's stable will be the Tata Altroz EV, which was showcased at the 2019 Geneve Motor Show. However, when we recently asked Shailesh Chandra, President Electric Mobility Business & Corporate Strategy, Tata Motors, regarding the Altroz EV's launch timeline he said, "I cannot disclose any date but, it should be within next 12-18 months is what I would expect". This means the fully electric premium hatchback will only arrive in the first half of 2021.

Few things about Altroz that I like and some I don't like

1. Hello Google, talk to Tata altroz. That to me is pretty boring. but unless there are lots of Easter eggs, that would be pretty boring. one such thing I like was altroz told is max speed of 165kmph.
2. Great looks, inside and outside, I hated that instrument cluster but now I am ok with it, even would have preferred simple but elegant round analog dials. That would have done justice to this car.
3.absence of 4 pot petrol, that would have just given the competition more fire, at least another variant with 4 pot petrol.
4. people complain that 60-40 split is absent is a bad thing. Now we have/had 4 cars in past Maruti 800, Wagon R, Indigo, Toyota Liva, Storme. In last 20 years or so, in all these cars I don't remember even once, we had to fold seats partly, either it was complete fold or none. Even seats were folded were for times which can be counted on hand. Wagon R once when I had to get 4 beds rolled and transported to home. So 60-40 is split is non entity for me. so I don't care about it.
5. Absence of automatic is not done. the issue has been since the launch of Harrier, new great car, but no automatic. and boom you loose many potential customers. People now want automatic more than anything (at least on paper) I still prefer the good ol manual variants, because I feel connected to car.
Yeah thats gonna go soon, when you have electric ones whizzing silently, the pure old thrill of burning of petrol/diesel , the grunt, the growl will all go away. Yeah pollution too will go away.("Maaf karna thoda behak gaya to idhar udhar jaata hoo")

I've been driving Polo GT for about 3 years now. I wouldnt trade any other automatics to the DSG. Cos it feels very much like a manual, but without me changing gears and pressing the clutch. Now, we are at the dawn of electrics. I hope, manufacturers come up with exciting electric cars. Cars that can hit the corners and shoot out of it. I care not for drag races that these media does with Tesla. ("Maaf karna thoda behak gaya to idhar udhar jaata hoo")[:D]

Altroz secures 5 stars in the Global Ncap crash test rating - Tata Altroz secures five-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests
[clap]
More so this is extremely important to note, and praise worthy is even though this is new platform, first car off a new platform, and yet it manages to score Handsome 5 Stars with adult protection score of 95% (16.13 /17) is indeed commendable.
Marutis Heartect platform cars, Swift and WagonR scored a low 2 * rating speaks how much the Tatas are committed towards safety.

Truly amazing! This rating proves "premium" tag. Proud of you Tata!!

I am seriously considering Altroz as my first car since launch. I haven't book it yet; waiting for price announcement. My heart is for TUV300 but buying decision of a car need to taken from mind and its practicality & other factors as well. XUV300 is out of budget & so new Nexon :-|

I seriously wanted to see Tata & Mahindra growing. It seems, Mahindra has lot to catch-up!
