If you fail to do so, you may cause harm either to you or someone you are sharing the road with. Being a safe driver is important. Go through the following steps to know exactly how to do so:

1. Maintain the speed limit
2. Always wear your seat belt
3. Do not drink and drive
4. In the very beginning, avoid having friends in the car

Nicely thought post Mighell [thumbsup] Totally agree on the above points.

Some more from my end:-
5. If you are driving a car, don't try to match up your acceleration with a Bike. Eventually you may get past the biker, but it is difficult to catch up in the start.
6. Be Patient. Although, this is like complete opposite of the nature at that age. But remember it will be surely help.
7. Try to imbibe the basic road sense. Where to drive, where to park, when to over take and when to enjoy the drive or ride.
8. Never indulge in road rage. Never helps.

As the Holy Gita Says - Karm Kiye Jao. Fal ki Chinta Mat Karo meaning - Develop Passion for Journey. Do not worry about Destination.

Similarly Teenagers must be taught to develop Passion for Safe Driving.

Rest all will fall in place.

The teenage drivers should be really careful while driving motor vehicles. Always wear a seat belt while driving. Do not drink and drive. Most of the accidents are caused due to drunk driving.

Maximum times when a teenager is involved in an accident is primarily due to negligence and carefree approach by him/her and their parents.

It is the responsibility of parents to teach them how to handle a vehicle on roads. Because while driving they are not only putting their life in danger but others also.

Though it is a RTO rule, not followed always, where ever possible, please give way to the vehicle coming in from the rightside - be it from the road on the right or in a roundtana/intersecton.

While coming down on a hill, it is mandatory to give way to the vehicle coming uphill. Even if it involves braking and stopping on your part.

While taking a hairpin bend, keep to the extreme left always, even if you have to steer sharp.

When you take a left turn into a wider road, take a tight turn and cling to to the left and move till you are sure that you can take the right lane without obstructing the traffic on that lane.

Likewise, don't cut corners when you take a right turn. While approaching the intersection keep to the left center of the road, making sure there is enough space on your right for a vehicle turning into your road and space for the vehicle behind you to take a left turn.

Smile and wave, (similar to thank you), to anybody shows courtesy to you by slowing down or stopping to let you through. That will make the other driver's effort worthwhile. You too should practice showing similar courtesy. (It is the same as saying 'after you' while entering a lift or a doorway)

These are some of the common mistakes I noticed educated people make while driving.

Smile at the people making mistakes. It will make them feel ashamed. If you shout at them, they will shout back at you and it might lead to road rage.

Enjoy driving and let others also enjoy their drive.

100% in agreement.

I have actually seen people from hilly areas following these practices. However, people from plain lands seldom follow these rules.
