Skoda Auto has announced the debut of the Enyaq; the brand’s very first series-production electric vehicle. The global automotive market is paving a new path in the field of emission-free mobility (especially in the premium segment) and the Czech-origin brand under Volkswagen Group is relatively late to the party.

At the moment, very few details are known about the Skoda Enyaq. There is no information on the specifications, pricing, body style or a possible launch timeline. In fact, the company has not even shared the EV’s early renders or digital sketches. However, the name itself gives us a few clues.

Reports state that the Enyaq will be based on the Skoda Vision iV SUV-coupe concept that was unveiled almost a year ago. The concept sported the latest iteration of the Skoda design language that takes inspiration from a Bohemian crystal. The Skoda Vision iV is dubbed as an “electric high-riding vehicle with dual motors (one on each axle)”. The combined output crosses 300bhp and the all-wheel-drive EV has a claimed range of 500+km.

New 2021 Skoda Enyaq electric SUV spied for first time

2021 Skoda Enyaq spied.jpg

The car will be Skoda’s first based on the new MEB electric car architecture developed by the Volkswagen Group, and will make its production car debut in the VW ID.3 electric hatchback.

2021 Skoda Enyaq spied-5.jpg

These new images clearly show the electric SUV has adopted the coupe-like curving roofline from the Vision iV concept. Skoda engineers have added fake body panels to the flanks and the rear end of the prototype in an attempt to hide the Enyaq’s overall profile and shape. But it’s clear the SUV will stick closely to the look of the original concept.

2021 Skoda Enyaq spied-11.jpg

An interior shot hints that the Enyaq will be offered with a huge central touchscreen system and a small digital instrument binnacle, likely borrowed from the Volkswagen ID.3 but housed within a dashboard designed specifically for the Skoda.

2021 Skoda Enyaq spied-12.jpg

There’s no word on the precise technical make-up of the Enyaq at this stage though, but it’s expected to feature all-wheel drive thanks to a system of two electric motors, one on the front axle and one at the rear.

Although not visible in the spy shots, Skoda revealed the name of the SUV in the form of an image. It shows the ‘Enyaq’ lettering in the same font and design as that will appear on the rear of the car itself.

The name Enyaq might sound like someone clearing their throat but Skoda tells us that it’s derived from the Irish name Enya, which in turn has its origins in the Gaelic word ‘eithne’, meaning ‘essence, spirit or principle’.

2021 Skoda Enyaq iV electric SUV teased: 225kW RS hero to lead the way

v4elzgtx583hgpafsesb.jpg

Skoda has handed down a whole mess of details for its upcoming Enyaq iV electric SUV, along with a number of photos offering our best look yet at the Czech brand's first purpose-built EV.

Let's look at the exciting stuff first: Rear-wheel drive in entry-level form, and a 225kW RS all-wheel-drive model at the top end.

nvcnbcgvz83oicnh9dc9.jpg

Mixed in with those details is confirmation of three battery sizes, five power variants and a driving range of up to 500 kilometres.

At the opening end of the line-up will be the 109kW Enyaq iV 50, driven by a rear-mounted electric motor (thus, rear-wheel drive) with a 55kWh battery pack that promises a maximum driving range of 340 kilometres.

khc4zrv2uvcgokqkc6pm.jpg

Next up is the Enyaq iV 60, again rear-wheel drive but with a 62kWh battery and a 390km driving range.

The Enyaq iV 80 follows as the top offering in the rear-motored set, its 82kWh battery offering 150kW and a maximum driving range up to 500 kilometres.

The Enyaq follows the company's first-ever electric vehicle, the CitiGo-e iV, which was spun out of the petrol-powered, Volkswagen Up!-derived city car a year ago.

A GLIMPSE OF THE ŠKODA ENYAQ iV: REAR-WHEEL DRIVE, FIVE LEVELS OF PERFORMANCE

The ENYAQ iV, ŠKODA’s first electric SUV, will be available to customers in various versions. Even a sporty RS one.

7. 5. 2020
ŠKODA has given us the first glimpse of the details of its ENYAQ iV, which will come in a wide range of versions. You can also check out some photos from testing, when the car was decked out in camouflage.

At 4,648 millimetres long and 1,877 wide, the electric ENYAQ iV SUV will be slightly smaller than the standard ŠKODA KODIAQ. But its height of 1,618 millimetres is a clear sign that the ENYAQ iV will have more dynamic qualities. Even so, buyers of the first electric SUV from ŠKODA can look forward to a spacious interior that gives the impression of a living room. This is underlined by the new interior concept: customers can choose from various versions and ŠKODA, for the first time in a mass-produced car, is using sustainable materials like leather tanned with olive extract.

The generous interior space of the ENYAQ iV is – thanks to the MEB platform, which houses the traction battery in the vehicle's floor – leaving the maximum possible room for the occupants. The 585-litre luggage compartment is proof that the car is truly spacious. As a result, the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV will be both a dynamic and a practical electric vehicle.

Customers can buy their ŠKODA ENYAQ iV in various design versions: either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, with three different battery capacities and five performance versions. The basic model will be the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV 50 with a battery capacity of 55 kWh, which will have a 109 kW electric motor mounted on the rear axle and will deliver a range of up to 340 kilometres per charge. Next up will be the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV 60 with a 132 kW electric motor and a 62 kWh battery. This version will have a range of 390 kilometres.

The biggest range, up to 500 kilometres, will be offered by the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV 80 with an 82 kWh battery capacity and a 150 kW electric motor. The two four-wheel-drive versions will also have the highest-capacity battery and a second electric motor at the front in addition to the one on the rear axle. The ŠKODA ENYAQ iV 80X will offer 195 kW of power, while the downright sporty RS will deliver 225 kW. The most dynamic version will accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and have a top speed of 180 km/h. Both four-wheel-drive versions will have a maximum range of 460 kilometres.

Charging capacity will be up to 125 kW, which will make it possible to charge the battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just forty minutes.

Akash

New 2021 Skoda Enyaq electric car teased ahead of September launch

Skoda Enyaq teaser 2.jpg

Skoda has announced that the Enyaq electric SUV will make its official debut on 1 September in an online event, and has teased its Tesla Model Y rival for the first time.
When it goes on sale in 2021, it will be the firm’s first dedicated electric vehicle, acting as an alternative for the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia e-Niro battery-powered SUVs, too.

2021 Skoda Enyaq spied.jpg

Judging by the sketch, the new Enyaq’s design will be weighted more to that of a traditional two-box SUV than a coupe-inspired one, as is popular with modern electric SUVs.
Skoda has also said that the Enyaq will boast a “generous” amount of cabin space. The company says it’ll have a similarly sized cabin to the Kodiaq SUV, despite being shorter in length than the conventional Octavia hatchback.

2021 Skoda Enyaq spied-5.jpg

Skoda also released some additional information on the Enyaq’s platform and powertrain. We knew the pure-electric SUV was going to be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB underpinnings – but Skoda has now confirmed that buyers will have their choice of rear- or four-wheel-drive, along with three battery sizes and five power outputs.

2021 Skoda Enyaq spied-11.jpg

A recent interior shot hints that the Enyaq will be available with a huge central touchscreen and a smaller digital instrument binnacle. The technology looks identical to the infotainment setup found in the Volkswagen ID.3, but the Skoda’s dashboard is new.

The design looks bland from the front(read dated), but what is happening after the C pillar? That a lot of rearwards slope, yet the rear looks much better if compared to the front. Its surprising that despite being a part of the VAG group, Skoda is so late to the EV party.

New 2021 Skoda Enyaq electric SUV: interior teased with sustainable materials promised

Skoda Enyaq interior.jpg

Skoda has revealed an interior sketch of the upcoming Enyaq, which will be Skoda’s first electric SUV and will be revealed on 1 September.

When it goes on sale in 2021, it will be the firm’s first dedicated electric vehicle, acting as an alternative for the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia e-Niro battery-powered SUVs, too.

This interior sketch reveals that the production car’s dashboard design will take inspiration from the latest Octavia, while remaining true to the Vision iV concept, too.

We can see a small digital instrument panel, a two-spoke steering wheel taken from the Octavia, a dashboard with a large central area, home to a wide, 13-inch central infotainment display and a strip of piano-key style buttons, and a large centre console with a very small drive selector. Behind the instrument panel sits a projector for a head-up display with augmented reality features.

According to Skoda, the main difference between the interior of the Enyaq and the rest of the firm’s line-up is found in the material selection. It uses more natural, recycled and sustainably produced materials for various trim and upholstery elements, such as recycled PET bottle plastic for seat covering, and leathers tanned using extract from olive trees.

The firm’s interior designer, Norbert Weber, promises that customers will be offered several interior themes using sustainable materials, while Skoda has also claimed a boot size of 585-litres. Skoda has also said that the Enyaq will boast a “generous” amount of cabin space. The company says it’ll have a similarly sized cabin to the Kodiaq SUV, despite being shorter in length than the conventional Octavia hatchback.

Judging by an exterior teaser sketch, the new Enyaq’s design will be weighted more to that of a traditional two-box SUV than a coupe-inspired one, as is popular with modern electric SUVs.

Skoda has also released some additional information on the Enyaq’s platform and powertrain. We knew the pure-electric SUV was going to be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB underpinnings – but Skoda has now confirmed that buyers will have their choice of rear- or four-wheel-drive, along with three battery sizes and five power outputs.

The Enyaq’s platform will offer support for the latest 125kW DC fast charging technology, which should allow the SUV’s battery pack to recover 125 miles of range in as little as 15 minutes. Skoda has also stated that the Enyaq’s largest battery pack will provide a claimed WLTP range of up to 311 miles.

New 2021 Skoda Enyaq EV teased again ahead of official reveal

Skoda is readying its first purpose built electric vehicle for launch. The Enyaq iV SUV will make its official debut on 1 September – and these latest sketches provide a realistic look at the design of the crossover’s front and rear lamps.

Skoda Enyaq.jpg

When it goes on sale in 2021, the Enyaq will be Skoda’s first EV based on the Volkswagen Group’s new MEB platform and will act as a sibling to the upcoming Volkswagen ID.4. It will also provide fresh competition for the likes of the Kia e-Niro and Peugeot e-2008.

Skoda Enyaq teaser-2.jpg

Skoda’s relentless barrage of teaser images confirm that the Enyaq will draw plenty of inspiration from the Vision iV concept, as well as the brand’s existing combustion-engined line-up. For example, EV’s headlamps draw inspiration from both the Kamiq crossover and Octavia hatchback, sharing similar daytime running lights and individual LED reflectors.
Skoda Enyaq interior.jpg

The rest of the car’s styling is lifted from the Vision iV concept. Naturally, some of the show car’s details, such its wafer-thin headlights and wing-mounted rear-view cameras, will fall by the wayside for the production car, but the overall shape and dimensions (with a footprint between that of a Karoq and a Kodiaq) will remain familiar.

However, the standard, production-facing Enyaq will ditch the concept’s coupe-like roofline in favour of a more practical, pseudo-estate shape – but we know that a coupe-SUV version of the car is already also the pipeline. The car’s tail-lights are also very similar to those found on the latest Octavia.

Skoda’s interior sketches also reveal that the finished Enyaq’s dashboard will be influenced by the latest Octavia. There’s a small digital instrument binnacle and a two-spoke steering wheel that’s lifted from the hatchback – while a large 13-inch infotainment screen dominates the centre of the dashboard.

Under the central screen, there’ll be a strip of piano-key style buttons and a large centre console with a dinky drive selector. Behind the instrument panel sits a projector for a head-up display with augmented reality features.

Skoda says the main difference between the cabin of the Enyaq and its combustion-engined siblings is the material selection. The EV trim uses more natural, recycled and sustainably produced materials – such as recycled PET bottle plastic for seat coverings, and leathers tanned using extract from olive trees, rather than traditional chemical compounds.

Skoda recently released some extra information on the Enyaq’s platform and powertrain. We knew the pure-electric SUV was going to be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB underpinnings – but Skoda has now confirmed that buyers will have their choice of rear- or four-wheel-drive, along with three battery sizes and five power outputs.

New Skoda Enyaq SUV enters the electric SUV class with 316-mile range

Skoda Enyaq official pics 2021-9.jpg

This is Skoda’s first bespoke electric car, the Enyaq, which will lead the Czech manufacturer into new territory when it lands in UK dealers in early 2021.

Skoda Enyaq official pics 2021-8.jpg

The Enyaq is, in effect, the sister vehicle to the forthcoming VW ID.4. Like that car, it sits on the VW Group’s latest all-electric platform, MEB, which has been designed to maximise the packaging and efficiency benefits that come with electric cars.
Skoda Enyaq official pics 2021-7.jpg

The Enyaq is a 4,648mm-long SUV, so it’s about 50mm shorter than Skoda’s flagship offering, the Kodiaq. But the Enyaq’s wheelbase is 2,765mm, just 26mm shorter than the Kodiaq’s, reflecting how the engineers have reduced the front overhang to help free up extra cabin space. While the car is being launched as a regularly shaped SUV, a more rakish coupé version is also under development.

Skoda Enyaq official pics 2021-11.jpg

The Skoda’s styling comes with some interesting additions such as 130-LED backlighting in the front grille (standard on high-end versions). Eight wheel designs will be offered, ranging from 19 to 21 inches.

Skoda Enyaq official pics 2021-14.jpg

Battery, range and performance
The Enyaq range in the UK will comprise two versions at launch. The iV 60 has a 62kWh battery and a 177bhp motor driving the rear wheels, for a 0-62mph time of 8.7 seconds. Skoda claims this car can manage up to 260 miles on a single charge.

Skoda Enyaq official pics 2021-16.jpg

The iV 80 has an 82kWh battery and a larger, rear-mounted motor with 201bhp. It can cover 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds and travel for 316 miles between recharges. Skoda UK has already confirmed that a four-wheel-drive edition will be offered in due course; badged 80x, it will have 261bhp and a range of 285 miles. But it won’t be the most potent Enyaq; that will be the vRS, which will pack a 302bhp twin-motor set-up and crack 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds. Expect these additional variants in spring 2021.

Skoda Enyaq official pics 2021-23.jpg

The Enyaq will come with 50kW DC charging as standard – a sign that Skoda is focusing on those who will top up their car’s battery at home. Faster charging is available (100kW for the 62kWh battery, 125kW for the 82kWh), but as an option. Skoda says it will take between six and eight hours to charge the battery via a 7kW home wallbox.

Skoda Enyaq official pics 2021-24.jpg

Interior, specs and prices
Inside, the fascia is dominated by a 13-inch infotainment display, reportedly the largest in any of the MEB-based models. There’s a small digital instrument binnacle but a more conventional drive selector, in the centre console, than the steering column-mounted rocker in the VW ID.3.

Skoda Enyaq official pics 2021-25.jpg

The boot capacity is 585 litres – a little up on that of the Skoda Karoq mid-sized SUV, and better than the Kia e-Niro’s. Skoda is using those two basic technical specifications as the basis for the Enyaq’s trim levels. The Enyaq iV 60 gets the 13-inch infotainment screen, ambient interior lighting, rear parking sensors, air-con and a multifunction leather steering wheel. The cabin treatment on the entry edition is called Loft, and it includes a mixture of fabric and artificial leather seat facings, and brushed aluminium highlights.

Skoda launches new Enyaq iV designed for emergency services

Skoda Enyaq emergency services.jpg

Skoda has expanded its line-up of blue-light vehicles with an emergency response version of the new pure-electric Enyaq iV SUV.

Skoda Enyaq emergency services-2.jpg
It’s the first electric vehicle Skoda has ever offered to the emergency services, so the Czech brand has made sure to cover all the bases. As such, the Enyaq iV can be equipped for police, fire and ambulance service duties as a first response unit.

Skoda Enyaq emergency services-3.jpg

Like the recently launched Octavia Scout first response vehicle, the Enyaq can be specified with all the necessary equipment for each emergency service through Skoda’s “One Stop Shop” service. Options include battenberg decals, strobe lights, sirens and radios.

Skoda Enyaq emergency services-4.jpg

Skoda has even integrated the controls for the lights, sirens and communication platform into the Enyaq’s existing infotainment system, which trims back some of the switchgear normally found on the dashboard of a traditional emergency vehicle.

At 585 litres, the Enyaq’s boot should be big enough to carry all the necessary equipment for any emergency service team. Storage space expands to 1,710 litres with all the seats folded flat, which Skoda says is more than enough to transport life-saving emergency equipment, such as ventilators and oxygen tanks.

For now, the Enyaq first response vehicle is only available with a 201bhp and 310Nm rear mounted electric motor drivetrain, which Skoda says is enough for a 0–62mph time of 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 99mph.

There’s a choice of either a 62kWh or 82kWh nominal battery pack, the larger of which offers a maximum range of 333 miles on a full charge. When connected to a DC rapid charger, the larger cell will also take on an 80 percent charge in around 38 minutes.

Skoda says that as the Enyaq iV’s powertrain has fewer perishable components and moving parts and than a petrol-engined patrol car, it won’t need to be serviced as often. That means the cars can stay on the road longer, which increases the efficiency of the fleet.

Sleek new Skoda Enyaq Coupe makes its debut with bigger range than regular Enyaq

Skoda-ENYAQ_Coupe_2022-front-(2)_sbm3gw.jpg

Skoda has revealed the Enyaq Coupe iV, a sleeker, sportier-looking version of its electric SUV. Based on the same MEB platform as its standard sibling, the Enyaq Coupe iV is available with three different motor options and thanks to its aerodynamic shape, offers even more range than the regular SUV model.

Skoda-ENYAQ_Coupe_2022-dashboard_wbgqff.jpg
Unlike its stablemate though, Skoda’s rival to the Kia EV6 and Volkswagen ID.5 only comes with the larger 82kWh (77kWh usable) battery, which in the most efficient version serves up a claimed 339 miles of range from a full charge.

Powertrain and performance

The entry-level car is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 201bhp and 310Nm of torque, while the Enyaq Coupe 80x adds an extra motor on the front axle for four-wheel drive and a total of 261bhp and 425Nm. Acceleration figures for these two variants have not yet been confirmed, but both models will hit a top speed of 102mph.

Skoda-ENYAQ_Coupe_2022-front_rkdna8.jpg

Skoda has also unveiled its first ever electric vRS model, in the form of the Enyaq Coupe iV vRS. Like the 80x, the vRS features four-wheel drive, and with 295bhp and 460Nm of torque on tap the sporty EV will accelerate from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and hit a top

Skoda-ENYAQ_Coupe_2022-rear_mb0foc.jpg

The Coupe’s impressive efficiency is thanks to an even lower drag coefficient of 0.234Cd compared with the standard Enyaq, adding an extra 10 miles of range over the longest-range Enyaq SUV option.

Skoda-ENYAQ_Coupe_2022-front_up_sdrqzy.jpg

With the same 135kW rapid charge capability as its sibling, charging the Enyaq Coupe from 10 to 80 per cent takes 29 minutes, while home charges take between six and nine hours depending on the wallbox supply. The Enyaq Coupe can handle AC charging at up to 11kW.

Design

According to Skoda, to inject some emotion into the car’s design the brand’s stylists have created a gently tapering roofline at the rear, with the Enyaq Coupe featuring a panoramic glass roof as standard. The sportier look - even on the standard models - gives the Enyaq Coupe SUV its own character compared to the regular SUV Enyaqs, and it comes with a range of wheel sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches.

Skoda-ENYAQ_Coupe_2022-seats_front_fgisaz.jpg

The 80x SportLine model features different body styling to the rest of the line-up, including larger air vents and bespoke badging on the front wings; this is taken to another level again for the vRS, with both models riding 15mm lower at the front and 10mm lower at the rear compared with the standard car. All Enyaq Coupe variants are available with Skoda’s Crystal Face illuminated grille, with the vRS coming as standard with this feature.

Skoda-ENYAQ_Coupe_-2022-seats_rear_mrbkur.jpg

Oliver Stefani, Head of Skoda Design, said that with the Enyaq Coupe Skoda has “retained almost all aspects of the Vision iV study [the Enyaq Coupe concept], which attracted a great deal of attention just over two years ago. Its elegant design featuring sculptural and crystalline details give the car a powerful appearance. Sporting athletic lines, our brand-new, all-electric first-class model is even more emotive than the successfully launched Enyaq iV. At the same time, the coupe also offers brand-typical qualities, such as generous amounts of space and a high level of functionality.”
