Volvo to launch XC 90 in India.

Dealers have started taking pre-orders for the same at a token amount of Rs. 10 Lakhs, suggesting that official launch might happen sometime in April, and deliveries would start by July.

It is expected that the new Volvo XC90 would come in a price bracket of Rs. 85-95lakhs.

Most of new and vital safety features will be disabled as the government runs interference. Here are a few details pertaining to Volvo XC90 India launch.
Radically new safety features of 2015 Volvo XC90 depend on radar technology, for which the government needs to allot frequencies to the carmaker. Since the administration has not given permission to Volvo for using radar in the country, Indian customers will not get to enjoy all the bang for the buck.

New Volvo XC90 will be introduced in two variants, Momentum and Inscription, with easily distinguishable exterior and interior characteristics. Interior of 2015 XC90 features vertically oriented infotainment display on centre console (like in Tesla) with non-cluttery 8 buttons for functions, air-ventilated sub woofer for 12 channel B & W music system, crystal gear lever on centre tunnel and the like.

Both variants of XC90 will be driven by D5 turbocharged diesel engine dishing out 225 hp max power and 470 Nm peak torque, mated to 8-speed auto gearbox. T8 petrol version of 2015 Volvo XC90 with 400 hp peak power is expected to follow later on, if demand demands.

The car was chosen from almost 5,000 participating product designs across 31 product categories in the much coveted Red Dot awards.
