As with the previous-generation SUV, it’s an upper mid-range model that will bridge the gap between the 434bhp Cayenne Coupe S and the flagship 542bhp Turbo S. The new model is expected to go on sale later this year. There are a few design tweaks which mark this Cayenne Coupe mule out as a GTS model. Up front, there’s a more aggressive bumper with broader intakes and an updated skid plate while, at the rear, there’s a redesigned diffuser and a larger exhaust system, which we expect will be connected to this mule’s rectangular finishers on the production model.
In keeping with the hardcore image of Porsche’s existing GTS line-up, Cayenne Coupe GTS buyers should get a lowered suspension system, stiffer anti-roll bars, uprated brakes and larger, black alloy wheels as standard. Buyers will also be able to spec active anti-roll bars and torque vectoring differentials as an optional extra.
Inside, buyers should get a host of high-level equipment, pinched from the options list of the lesser-specced Cayenne Coupe S. Additions should include Porsche’s adaptive sports seats, Alcantara upholstery, a new sports steering wheel, fresh treadplates, aluminium trim and a smattering of “GTS” badges.
It’ll be powered by a detuned version of Porsche’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine, as found in the current Panamera GTS. Like the saloon, its power and torque figures will stand at 453bhp and 620Nm respectively, which should be enough extra grunt to justify the expense over the S model, without treading on the toes of the flagship Turbo S variant.
