Planing a Trip To Saputara

We are planning a trip to Saputara, Dang Dist of Gujarat from 9th Aug to 11 aug. Local inquire and internet search indicate there are two route to Saputa from Mumbai. One is through Nasik another is via valsad-chikhli-vansad. Vansad rout seams to longer by 70-80 Km (google maps).
Can you guys suggest the best alternative, or may be the adv and disadv or the two routes. How is the road condition form nasik onwards.
Since we will stay there one full day please suggest some good hotels. And near by paces that can be visited.

Ahmedabad To Saputara

HI All,
Its been late but felt I had to update the forum anyways.
map 406km.png We made a trip from Ahmedabad to Saputara in our lovely little Zen Estillo (2011 model). Average fuel consumption Tank Full to Full turned out to be a healthy 20kmpl. We used the Aircon most of the highway, and turned it off on the uphill climb.
Performed a simple clean and oil change before the journey.
overall pleasant journey without any technical glitch.
Total km covered : 919km.

In saputara, though we hired a local taxi for sight seeing local marker, museum, ParaSailing and Bee-keeping spots. Did not use Zen while there.

Saputara is a beautiful hill station,its worth going there, especially in the rainy season with all the green cover all around.
Hotel Lakeview is a very good hotel, great location,great food,great and spacious rooms,great services.
Just outside Hotel Lakeview, is Lakeview restaurant,the best restaurant in Saputara.
also you can try lots of roadside eateries opp to the lake.
Do visit Gira Waterfalls, Table-top point,Ropeway(if operational in this season)Botanical Garden and of course the famous Saputara lake.
