While Peugeot plans for India have been put on back burner, new products are under development which have a significant importance to the Indian market. Peugeot had presented a bouquet of new cars at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo which certainly impressed us.

While the existing lineup of cars maybe very expensive or not suited for India, the immediately upcoming cars are the only means for Peugeot to get any significant volumes out of India.
One such model is the Peugeot 2008 Compact Crossover which was previewed in its concept avatar at the Beijing Motor Show.*
Codenamed A94, the Peugeot 2008 will be based on the Mitsubishi ASX platform. Peugeot 2008 will be 4,140mm long making it one of the the smallest soft-roaders on sale.
Its distinctive style will be designed by Peugeot’s studio in Paris and Shanghai. The production version of the Peugeot 2008 is expected to be showcased at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, visually it could be very close to the rendering produced by Italian auto publication Quattroroute.
Engines on offer would include:
Peugeot 2008 Petrol

1.2L with 82hp
1.4L with 95hp
1.6L with 120hp
Peugeot 2008 Diesel

1.6 e-HDi diesel with 92hp and 114hp
The compact crossover comes in both two- and four-wheel drive formats, according to the Italian publication.
When it goes on sale in 2015, it will compete against the Nissan Juke, Opel Mokka and Chevrolet Trax. The main markets for this to-be compact crossover could be Russia, China, India and Brazil.

This is a good news, will open the market share widely and we can expect good customer service. Even "Kia, Infinity" also can explore Indian car market.

It's good to know that Peugeot is coming to Indian market. They have some really good cars.
I still remember that we had Peugeot station wagon for almost 7-8 years back in 90's and it was a really really nice car, very comfortable. Was an 8 seater and still had ample of space for luggage.

Hope they come up with good cars.

Yes i think KIA can do good in Indian market but am not sure about Infinity as they are priced higher than the nissan models and i think before they launch Infinity in India they should bring the Nissan Altima, Sentra and Maxima in India. All these 3 are really good cars.
