Did the pending items last weekend:

1. 3M Paint Sealant treatment
Took the car last weekend to 3M to finish off the left over car care items. While the PPF treatment was done on the bumpers and side view mirrors, for the metal panels, was recommended the Paint sealant treatment.

Total Cost - Rs 5400+taxes

Few Pics taken during the work. The 3M, Golf Course Road, team did a thorough job in foam washing, claying and then application of Paint Sealant.

Application of Paint Sealant. 3 Member team worked meticulously in applying the sealant all across the panels and using the handheld polisher did a thorough job in rubbing all over. The engine bay was also cleaned and dressed up.

Crossed 1000 Kms last week. Getting good mileage on the office run. [:D]

Please share the breakup of the items you paid at 3m.
Also are those OEM floor mats from skoda ? (No not the nomad) [surprise] those mats look neat. Can you post some more pics of the floor mats ? Imo this nomad mat isn't gelling well with the other mats.
I just checked the 3m procedure of paint sealent programme. Did they use polish on a new car ?

Did the PPF work couple of weeks back. Had visited the 3M Car Care, Golf Course Road, Sector 27, Gurgaon, few months back to pamper the Estilo. After seeing the quality of work signed up for the annual package.

So the day after delivery, took the Silver Bull to get few things done. Priority list was
1. PPF
2. Paint sealant treatment
3. Nomad mat for the rear seat Hump area

Discussed with the 3M centre owner Mr. Anurag. The total cost of PPF for the whole vehicle worked out to be around Rs 1 lakh. This was way beyond the makeup budget. Cost per sq ft, including installation, was Rs 530/sq ft. Hence decided on doing only the three essential items - Front and rear bumpers, Side view mirrors and Door handle wells. The total cost worked out to be around Rs 21k. Nomad mats were not available. Hence reserved for the next visit.

Now two immediate items pending:
1. Nomad Mats for the rear seat Hump - the mats given as part of the essential kit does not have the Hump mat.
2. Paint sealant treatment - Full body PPF was out of budget. Hence this is the second best option.
Please could you specify the cost incurred in PPF and other treatment.

The breakup of the total work done at 3M are:
1. Paint Protection Film - Front and Rear bumpers, Sideview mirrors & Door Handle wells - Total 41 sq ft of Film - Rs 531 / sq ft - Rs 21,000
2. Paint Sealant treatment - Rs 5400+taxes - Rs 6,000
3. Nomad Mats for the rear Hump - 2 sq ft - Rs 300 / sq ft - Rs 600

Total of Rs - Rs 27,600

Also are those OEM floor mats from skoda ? (No not the nomad) [surprise] those mats look neat. Can you post some more pics of the floor mats ? Imo this nomad mat isn't gelling well with the other mats.
Yes, OEM Floor mats from Skoda. Total 5 mats as part of the essentials pack - Two in the front, two in the back seat and one big mat covering the entire boot. Really good quality rubber mats with lips all around and fits perfectly/tightly in the places. These do not move due to the perfect fit. Unfortunately the rear hump area mat is not there/not part of the pack and not available even as a accessory. And with the black floor setup and kids loving to keep the leg above and play around, had no other option other than to buy something to cover that area. Hence fixed on the Black Nomad mat.

Attaching few pics:
Rear seat with the mats from Skoda. Snug fit.

Front passenger side, with the front seat pushed back till the end. The mat fits perfectly in the space.

Rear single mat pic, with the front seat pushed till the end. The mat covers all the space. Notice the lips in all the mats, which helps in holding the dust/mud from the shoes/chappals and not spill into the black mat below.

The Nomad mat cut to fit the hump area. Last pic - nomad mat neatly tucked under the Skoda mat

Washing was done, then claying and then straight away to the paint sealant application. Was told that if the car is more than a year old, polishing will be required.

will try to find similar mats for my elantra. i loved these.
also , i think they should have decreased the prices if they didn't use polish.
they took 4k rupees just for claying and cleaning engine bay ?[confused] i mean UV protect comes with washing and applying wax and it cost just 1100 rupees.

paint sealent
A special car wash with the unique foaming treatment cleans the car body spotlessly eliminating all the dust and the grime. The tires and wheel arches are washed and the cleaned thoroughly by Tar removal and clay wiping process.
After the expert car wash and cleaning, the surface is coated with 3M car polish - a highly durable synthetic sealant for the final touch of gloss and protected. The car carpets, Floor and dashboard in the car are dry vacuumed and wiped clean of dust.
UV protect
The special car wash with the unique foaming treatment cleans the car body spotlessly eliminating all the dust and the grime. The exterior is given an exceptional polish with the 3M car wax - the 3M carnauba wax. The tires are dressed with tire dresser. The interiors are vacuumed and cleaned thoroughly while also dressing the car dashboard leaving the car polished and shining inside out.
i am getting more confused.
it says the surface is coated with 3M car polish - a highly durable synthetic sealant but you said they didn't apply polish , so the paint sealant they used is normal wax ?

They used the paint sealant. Checked the can. It said Synthetic Sealant. Missed taking the pic of the can. Will take the pic and post when I go that side, anytime soon.

Getting good mileage on the daily run. Did not expect that i will be getting more or less the quoted mileage figures. These are daily run to and fro to office. Mostly sedate driving due to traffic, gentle on throttle. Riding experience is very smooth with a measured throttle input.

120170509_225038.jpg
320170517_214318.jpg

Occasionally had floored the A pedal, got mighty push to the seat once the autobox downshifted. There is about 1 sec lag between flooring and getting pushed to seat.. wonderful feeling. [evil]

Yet to take out for a long trip. At this range, looks like some long highway run will give 22-23 kmpl, which will be awesome for a 2 liter engine.[:D]

Have you checked the run in period in the manual ? Do check it. I too was driving sedately when i saw that manual mentions that the car should not be driven at same speed for longer duration and to keep the car between 2k- 4k rpm. I was shifting below 2k for the first 400 kms.

Also 3m is really expensive. I wanted a wash and wax for my figo , 3m quoted 1360rs.
Booked an appointment through urban clap(akelna car wash) and 2 guys came and took 500rs for wash , rubbing polish and wax using hand machines and 3m products. Check my figo thread. Car looks good as new. 3m powershine would cost above 10k And they just add claying and tar removal.

Just letting you know and would make a new thread with pictures when i get my verna done from them

Yes, the same run in methodology was mentioned in the Skoda manual as well. I am done with the run in period in the first two weeks and did all rpms ranging from 1.5k to 4.5k and not holding on any rpm for more than 2 mins. With automatic it becomes a bit difficult. Got blaring honks at times. Now its some sedate driving and some spirited driving as the day deserves, infact today morning drive mileage stood at 12.2 kmpl..[evil]

3M is expensive. Now i am done with them for the regular maintenance. Started selfcare from last week. As the interiors are okay and not used much, major work on exteriors. Have got Formula 1 Carnauba Paste Wax and Formula 1 Carnauba Wash and Wax Shampoo. It has now become a weekly ritual - Wash and clean with shampoo and Wax applied once in two weeks. Takes about 45 mins to 1 hour - plain water splash, wash with Jopasu Magic wipe cloth with the Water & Shampoo mix, wipe dry with first wet cloth and then dry cloth. Bull shines [:D]. My kid is also interested and hence time well spent with kid as well.

From Day 1, the car kept me pampered and cocooned. All the gizmos around kept me busy and everyday learnt a new hidden feature. Did read through the user manual, which was incidentally the common one. Though some of the features, like the storage bin under the passenger seat, were absent in the Indian version, I came across many features which are nifty and can help in getting the best of the creature comforts.

It was time for me to take care of the Silver Bull as well. Did the PPF treatment from 3M, as shared earlier in the thread. While that was done for the front and rear bumpers, the full body wrapping would have costed a whopping 40k. Thought it was too much to put in for, along with the risk of the wrapping yellowing with age. Hence started reading about the various paint treatments. Came across “Ceramic” or “Glass” coating as a widely recommended option to protect the paint and from scratches from debris and day to day cleaning.

Checked with few of the detailers and finally zeroed upon Onyxaa treatment. Spoke to the Onyxaa helpdesk and asked for their workshop nearer to Gurgaon. Got directed to “Advanced Detailers” who are doing the Onyxaa treatment as a franchisee. Spoke to them and fixed up an appointment for that Saturday. Reached there by 10.30 am.

3020170805_164010.jpg
3120170805_164018.jpg

A thorough inspection of the car was done. They had three packages.

Packages
Exterior Coating Material-Silver Package(9H 1 layer,Glass Pro) : Rs.17500/- (2yr warranty)
Exterior Coating Material-Gold Package(9H 2 layer, Glass pro, Wheel pro) : Rs.23500/- (5yr warranty)
Exterior Coating Material-Platinum Package(9H 5 layer, Glass pro, Wheel Pro, Anti-Fog) : Rs.40000/- (7yr warranty)

Chose the Gold package, which gave 2 layer coating along with Glass and Alloy coating. Was promised a 5 year warranty (for whatever its worth [roll]) along with it. Have to see the effectiveness over couple of years. As I had already done the PPF for the front and rear bumpers, that area was reduced from the charges and the final price agreed was 20,750/-.

The work started in earnest. Had a bunch of 5 people working on the car. As i was doing all the weekly washing and the day to day cleaning with the Jopasu dusters, there were no swirl marks except few minor scratches due to road debris.

A thorough shampoo washing was done to degrease.

Wherever minor scratches were present, rubbing was done. Then the car was washed again.
520170805_121955.jpg

1020170805_130757.jpg

Then the treatment started. Some parts were covered to avoid any contact of the coat.
220170805_121810.jpg
Two bottles of 9H were used - 1 for each layer.
2520170805_142250.jpg

Coating was done using a lint-free cloth folded over a stiff sponge. Coating was done segment by segment and after 10 mins to dry was wiped with microfiber cloth to even out. Then the next segment was one. Likewise the entire car was treated twice and then the glasses and alloys. The entire process took about 3 hrs to complete.

The curing process was done with heat lamps after the 2 layer coating.

Started using the Skoda Oneapp
Quiet simple to set up. Download the app, register with the VIN number. The units and other details can be setup easily and they are quiet intuitive too.

The app can be connected to the car to get the realtime details of the running and create a log. It also highlights any issues or problems and gives an update on the kms to service details. [clap] Wealth of data. This also gives a scoring for drivers all across the globe. I am in low 100's ranking. Gives detail of the ride, kms done, fuel consumption, max and average rpm, g force, route map (if mobile gps is switched on) and all the above details at every point on the trip. Good one. This is now helping me to see how good/efficient a driver i am.

Sharing the screenshots from the app.

Mileage continues to be awesome. On tankful method, there seems to be a variance of 3-5% and comes out on the lower side. Still, seeing such numbers on the console gives a good feeling. [evil]

Got the plates changed to the HSRPs. Haryana govt had announced that HSRPs will be compulsory for the all the vehicles registered from 2016. Been running with the normal plates earlier.

While fixing the plates, the agency guy was also providing the option to include the plate covers as an option. Checked them. Looked good and sturdy. So fitted them as well.

HSRP's - Rs 380, including tax, paid to the RTO
Express delivery - Rs 290, including tax, paid to the HSRP authorised agency
Plate covers - Rs 450

120180509_100423.jpg

Also got the Key Fob covers from Amazon. Good ones, soft and supple. Covers the Key Fob fully with proper slits for the key and the buttons.
