Inspired by the Tata Nano mania, TVS Motors has started work on India’s cheapest bike which will only set you back by only Rs 30,000. The key aspects of development that are under consideration are good technology, fuel efficiency and low cost. The company wants to target a space between the moped segment and bike segment.

There is room for introducing one more product at the lower end of the motorcycle segment. Our cheapest motorcycle comes for Rs 36,000 while the most expensive moped is tagged Rs 25,000. There might be a new product positioned in this range. The Indian market is demanding, the quality of motorcycles on offer here is very high in terms of finish, engine performance, styling and fuel efficiency. The challenge would be to offer good features at competitive price points

Here are the features of Rock 100 (Source : Global Automobiles Rock100 motorcycle - Review by Dilip Bam)

Self-start and Engine-Kill-Switch as standard
Electronic tachometer
Linear gear indicator
2-year warranty

[surprise]So many goodies in 19k (almost 25k on-road)
I have seen this bike, the build quality is not so bad. The fuel tank & side panels looks flimsy, but that should have passed all the requirements of motor vehicles norms.

If a new player could offer a bike in 19k, why not the reputed brands, may be a few more grands higher, for better quality?
