The CUV which is going to be launched under Datsun, will be a compact SUV. This will be based on the Redi-GO Concept which was displayed at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Th, launch is speculated tol take place by May 2015. The Crossover will rival Ford's Ecosport,Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross, and Volkswagen Polo Cross and the upcoming Cross from Hyundai's Elite.

Datsun cars will be powered by the same 1.2l petrol engine coupled with a 5 speed gearbox, which is seen on the Go hatchback. Also to follow, are the missing safety features. It is believed that Datsun will not offer standard safety features like ABS and airbags on both GO+ and compact SUV. This will enable them to launch these cars at a very aggressive price

The compact SUV segment is not that price sensitive. Datsun should consider launching the same with basic safety features. Featureless Go is understandable as it caters to the budget concious entry level consumer, but to do away with safety features for price advantage, IMO I don't think its going to work out.

Datsun sure has 1) either the sheer audacity to carry on these frail tin-cans or 2) a very good understanding of the Indian consumers pulse, which incidentally, also beats for several other entry-level cars with zero safety features.
If they continue to do well, Datsun is actually making a case against full-fledged implementation of the base-safety norms proposed. How low can the country get. But then what to expect in a land whose people make mediocrity popular, as evidenced by item-numbers and singers like Yo-Yo-whatever.
