Renault Unveils the new Captur with Smarter and More Customizable Features

New design, new interior and new embedded technologies: the second generation of Renault's Captur sees the urban SUV set itself apart with heightened safety and customization features.

From the outside, the new Captur displays a sportier physique, with its wider grille and two large wind deflectors over the wheel arches. The SUV's body is also getting somewhat longer and displays a new C-shaped, 100% LED light signature at the front and back.

2020 Renault Captur global debut – New features, huge updates

The 2020 Renault Captur for the European market has made its world premiere with a host of new features and updates. While the compact crossover has been popular in the old continent, it’s Indian counterpart failed evoke interest in SUV-loving Indian customers.

The refreshed version of European Captur is slightly smaller than the India-spec model in every respect. The improvements include full LED headlamps with trademark Renault DRL extensions and slightly revised grille. The profile receives revised greenhouse, subtly modified sheet metal design and new 16- and 18-inch alloy wheel options.

In terms of technology, the facelifted Renault Captur for the European market becomes the first model from the automaker to offer plug-in hybrid E-Tech engine which has a pure electric range of 28 km. Renault says that the new powertrain features over 150 new patents. It also comes with 1.0-liter petrol, 1.3-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel options.

New 2020 Renault Captur: prices, specs and images

The second-generation Renault Captur will go on sale in February 2020 priced from £17,595. It’s tasked with re-affirming the brand’s position in the compact-crossover class, facing up against rivals such as the Nissan Juke and Skoda Karoq.

As standard, the new Renault Captur features 17-inch steel wheels with hubcaps, automatic windscreen wipers, automatic climate control, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a 4.2-inch TFT monitor set into the gauge cluster and a seven-inch infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Buyers also get a four-speaker sound system, electric front and rear windows, a couple of USB ports and a host of standard-issue safety equipment, including lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, active emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, cruise control and a speed limiter.
