Suzuki Jimny Pickup Style, Survive custom concept SUV unveiled

maruti-suzuki-jimny-off-road-pick-up-launch-price-2.jpg

The new gen Suzuki Jimny’s retro classic styling scores high without even trying. The boxy shape not only emerges as honest and desirable but it also proves to be highly customizable as demonstrated by these two custom concepts – Suzuki Jimny Pickup Style and Jimny Surive. Both the design concepts will be showcased at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon next month.

While the photos and success of jimny is alright but this thread title has become like a joke. Maruti is least interested in bringing jimny here. They are launching it all over the world but treating us as not good enough market. That's frustrating.
Moderators should change the title as 2018 is passing by. It might come here in future but atleast this title will be changed for that future.

I agree. Even though Maruti sells a majority of cars for Suzuki compared to the worldwide market for Suzuki, we still get very limited set of products, and much later than other places. Now that the Gypsy production is being stopped , I hope we may see Jimny coming to the Indian shores by next year. With the new compact SUV craze in India, the Jimny would be quite a good fit. It is a lifestyle vehicle which may not fit the bill for most families, but I feel there would still be a decent market for the Jimny in India.

Suzuki Jimny Black Bison Edition Looks Like An Off-Roading Monster

wald_aero_jimny_sierra_blackbison_01.jpg

The new Suzuki Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre engine. Despite the increased displacement, it has smaller overall dimensions than the engine it replaces, with 15% reduced weight, contributing to enhanced fuel efficiency. There’s a 5-speed manual transmission and 4-speed automatic transmission on offer.

Suzuki-Jimny-2018-1068x668.jpeg

The speculations surrounding the Jimny’s India debut has been there for long and it could happen in the near future. The latest generation Jimny sold internationally is its biggest overhaul yet. It comprises of ladder frame chassis with 4WD configuration and low range gearbox while maintaining its retro charm courtesy of the horizontal grille, rounded headlights, upright pillars, high riding stance and flared wheel arches.

Suzuki Jimny Production To Begins In Maruti’s Gurgaon Plant Very Soon

jimny-sierra-2-1068x618.jpg

While Maruti Suzuki India Ltd is yet to let out an official word on the launch timeline of the mini-SUV, our sources have informed us that the company is currently installing the production line for the Jimny SUV at its Gurgaon-based facility. The 3-door SUV will be produced in the country for the export markets. Based on the Heartect platform, the Jimny will be manufactured alongside other UVs like the Gypsy, Brezza, S-Cross, Eeco & Carry.

It needs to be mentioned here that Maruti Suzuki has already revealed that it’s toying with the idea of launching a Jimny-based SUV that won’t be exactly similar to the export-spec model. The India-spec SUV will be tailor-made to suit the needs of Indian buyers. In India, it will be a successor to the iconic Gypsy, which was on sale in the country for 33 years. In fact, the local version of the Jimny will likely retail under the Gypsy moniker.

Ah well!.....Let us hope that this is not just one more hot air balloon - in line with the myriad others launched in various sections of the press over the years.
While the Jimny would be a welcome addition to the small SUV options available here, it would have a scorcher of a difference over the rest of the also-rans.
That body-on-frame structure coupled with the priority-RWD / part time 4WD drive train would serve to separate the wheat from the chaff in the compact-SUV segment.
Like the Toyota RAV4, the Jimny too has a massive cult following world-wide, and deservedly so.

Like so many others I too am waiting with crossed fingers - which one to opt for! The Thar BS6, the Jimny, the new Gurkha......

Larger, 5-door Suzuki Jimny being readied for India launch

Resizer.ashx?n=http%3a%2f%2fcdni.autocarindia.com%2fExtraImages%2f20200327043449_JIMNY_INDIA_ACI.jpg

The Jimny in India will be not be launched as the 3-door version sold abroad. Instead, it will come with a larger, new 5-door body style that’s in development.

A larger cabin and the addition of rear doors will make this 5-door Jimny suitable to family buyers but what will be interesting to see is how the stretched dimensions, particularly the longer wheelbase, impact the off-roader’s ability in the rough. Size aside, the Jimny 5-door will be no different to the 3-door model in its basic ingredients. The 5-door Jimny will be built on a ladder-frame chassis, feature rigid axles at both ends, and employ four-wheel drive with low-range transfer case. The India-spec 5-door will come powered by the 105hp, 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that can also be found in the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Ertiga and Vitara Brezza.

Suzuki Jimny with Gypsy-style roof looks beautiful

suzuki-jimny-withh-gypsy-style-roof-featured.jpg

Suzuki launched all-new Jimny compact SUV in the international market an year ago, and it has been a huge success. The waiting period for the off-roader is a massive 18 months, yes 18 months. It is the fourth generation of Jimny that is currently on sale abroad. Earlier this year, Maruti showcased the latest Jimny in India, at the Auto Expo of 2020. Maruti Suzuki has also announced plans to start manufacturing the Jimny in India to keep up with the demand in international market. Currently, the Jimny is only manufactured in Japan. Here we have a video that shows how Jimny would look like if Maruti decides to launch it in India with a design inspired from discontinued iconic SUV, Gypsy.

The video has been uploaded by SRK Designs on their youtube channel. The video basically imagine how the Jimny would look like if it was inspired from its predecessor Gypsy. The design on the off-roader is quite boxy which gives it a proper SUV look. Artist has made couple of changes to the Jimny to make it look like a version that we would love to see here in India.

Nope. Not my cup of tea. I wish SRK had used the software to come up with a simpler 4/5 door rendering, without which it may not sell in the requisite numbers. Their renderings for the TUV on the other forum (before the actual TUV launch) was more acceptable.

Now with Pratap Bose's Sierra re-incarnation (a really delectable offering!) with a 3-door (sliding door on the left side) feature seems a better looking option.

3 door Suzuki Jimny SPIED testing on Indian roads

suzuki-jimny-spyshot-1.jpg

The Suzuki Jimny is one of the most eagerly awaited models in India. For the first time, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny Sierra SUV has been captured on camera testing on Indian roads. The SUV was spotted near the company's manufacturing plant in Manesar. As seen from the spy shot, the test mule is a three-door version, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. At the event, we saw the bigger Suzuki Jimny Sierra instead of the smaller one. Globally, the SUV is offered in a 3-door version only.

The test mule of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny looks very much identical to the model we saw at the Expo. Spotted in white body colour, the SUV sports a classic boxy design with tall body structure, circular headlamps, round fog lamps, new alloy wheel design, tailgate-mounted spare wheel, bumpers integrated taillights, side swung rear door and more.
