Thanks for these amazing updates 350Z. Excellent coverage of the launch on TAI. [clap]

And the prices look too tempting. Watchout Honda City & VW Vento. [glasses]

Note: Hyundai will continue selling the Accent alongside the New Verna. Also, the New Verna will continue to be called as 'Verna'. RB is the internal codename which is being used by Hyundai. The company has also released an iPhone app. for New Verna.

Thanks - Another thing to note is that Hyundai is targeting to sell 45,000 units by year end.

wow hyundai is bang on with its pricing, and the most effect is going to be on maruti sx4 with this pricing, entry level 1.6l DIESEL would cost just below 10L on road price which is amazing to have more powerful engine with abs, airbags, all disc brakes and other features as well which is right on vento's pricing. With second largest service network in India this is surely going to sell like hot cakes.

The pricing sure sounds very attractive but I can confirm that this price is bound to increase soon. Because during the launch ceremony, Arvind Saxena clearly tried to highlight multiple times by stating that is an ‘Introductory Price (Ex. Showroom Delhi)’. So for those who’ve been eyeing for the New Verna from some time now, it’s time to grab one (but of course only after inspecting inside out). I still regret not booking the Linea right after its launch, and just see now where the price has shot up to, as compared to introductory price.

Excellent coverage 350Z. The new Verna has been priced very competitively but i would have been happier if the diesel version has a bit lower tag.

@Knightrider: Thanks for posting the price list of Vento and City. It definitely will help compare the new Verna with them better, however nothing can be said before having a TD.

Yes. Looking forward to read a comprehensive TD report & review of the Verna here on TAI soon.
Also, it would be interesting to see the comparison with City & Vento with respect to specifications & features.

Verna on paper & as per reviews around appears to be a feature packed family oriented car. Traditional strengths of Hyundai has been reinforced while common weakness barring looks has been left unaddressed. So it offers very good engine option (1.6 diesel being standout), safety equipments, interiors packed with gizmos to the brim but still handles awfully at high speed.

Among all the sedans out there namely, Linea, Fiesta (new), Vento, SX-4 & City, its SX-4 that is likely to be affected more by new Verna.

1. Linea & Fiesta are known to be drivers car and not entirely practical for family person. So those who want good dynamics still follow these cars.

2. Vento & Honda City enjoys tremendous snob value which Hyundai & Maruti can never match.

That left us to SX-4. Hyundai & Maruti both similar as per as dealer network, brand image & after sale service concerned. Also both cars offer similar USP but Verna with refreshing looks and superior engine/feature edges out the aging SX-4. Petrol SX-4 never enjoyed much success and its the Fiat derived multijet diesel engine which gave SX-4 a new lease of life. Now with Verna offering diesel engine with better VFM proposition, we might see SX-4 getting a dent in its sell figures.
