The new Honda Activa 6G, it’s 125 cc sibling and the Dio scooters manufactured between February 14 to 25, 2020, are being recalled These new Honda scooters are being recalled over a defective rear cushion.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) announced that it suspects a quality issue in the rear cushion which may result in oil leakage or breakage, and may lead to vehicle imbalance. The authorized dealers will rectify and replace the rear cushion of the affected scooters starting from mid-March and if the concerned part belongs to the defective lot, it will be replaced at no cost to the customer irrespective of the warranty status. The owners of scooters covered by the recall campaign will be contacted by the company via email, phone call or SMS for inspection of their vehicle.

Both Activa 6G and 125 BS6 were launched in January 2020. It is to be noted that HMSI already recalled the Activa 125 BS6 a couple of weeks ago to fix a potentially defective cooling fan cover and oil gauge. The second recall comes just a few days later. In both cases, the two wheeler giant did not release the number of units affected by the recalls. Given that Honda has already sold over 1 lakh units of BS6 models (Activa 6G, 125 and SP 125), the recall campaign is expected to cover a sizable number of scooters.
