Dear friends,

I am now seriously interested in buying a safe, comfortable and reliable car

Time frame— within 3-4 months
Budget — 8-10 lacs
Fuel — petrol only
Gear — automatic preferred
Other points —
Good to drive, powerful, comfortable and safe

Cars shortlisted— only two for now
1. Ignis petrol manual/ amt
2. Etios petrol ( may reconsider as this is bigger in size)
3. Open for preowned option too
4. Cars I did not like( no offence to any of my friends here)Santro, i10 auto, baleno cvt, jazz cvt,
Did not consider polo tsi, no fords.
I may be going nuts, but as stated above, need a safe, reliable, comfortable and powerful car.

Reasons— traffic in Pune is on steep deterioration path, lack of proper roads and lack of proper public parking. In no mood to spend hard earned money, my old, second hand wagon r 1.1, will be handed over to my nephew in 3-4 months. Also waiting for BS 6 to be implemented.

I liked my preowned wagon r more than my Honda city cvt.

From my experience, I will suggest for IGNIS, it is VFM car , in city traffic or highway also of you drive sedate. I am using since a year in pune traffic and it's too good for me and it was my first car

Few inputs -

- Try to avoid Maruti for auto-box, if you move to stick then its okay
- Ford Freestyle diesel, pl check if auto is available, if yes, you should definitely give it a long test drive
- Grand i10 NIOS has the CVT now, Grand i10 ealier (still on sale) has a TC - try out both
- If possible wait to see the Altroz, it maybe a good bet
- Tata Nexon, do test drive, great car, good dynamics
- Skoda Rapid auto?

FYI, I have recently got the Grand i10 gear & find it very comfy for city ride

Grand i10 NIOS is AMT right? Referring this - Hyundai Grand i10 Nios: Variants Explained In Detail - NDTV CarAndBike
Freestyle has no auto option available till date.

@amiti - If you are fine with AMT, you can consider Grand i10 NIOS, Nexon Tigor etc. Just wait for bs6 compliant facelifts for these except NIOS.
You may also consider i20 CVT considering the maddening Pune traffic for comfortable drive experience. Also see if Altroz is worth the wait. [:)]
