Come 2013, Bajaj Auto will launch an all new flagship motorcycle, in the form of the Pulsar 375. While a 350cc+ Pulsar was announced early this year, when Bajaj Auto launched its current flagship motorcycle, the Pulsar 200 NS, we now have more details about the motorcycle that the Indian brand will launch in 2013. Like the Pulsar 200 NS, the Pulsar 375 will share many parts with the upcoming KTM Duke 375. This means that the bottom end of the Pulsar 375 could be shared with the Duke 375, as is the case with the Pulsar 200 NS and the Duke 200.
Like its name suggests, the Pulsar 375 will use a 375cc engine, in a single cylinder layout. This is one big revelation as all along, there has been confusion on whether the 375cc Pulsar will feature a single cylinder or whether it would house a twin cylinder motor. The Pulsar 375 is expected to share the basic design with the Pulsar 200 NS, when it comes to the features that its engine will feature. So, expect the triple spar plug layout to be carried over to the Pulsar 375 and the other innovations like a monoshock suspension layout at the rear.
The engine will be liquid cooled and unlike the Pulsar 200 NS, it is expected to usher in fuel injection rather than persisting with a carburetor. Expect the power output of the Pulsar 375 to be well in excess of 30 Bhp, making it one of the most powerful Indian motorcycle ever produced. Also, given the performance that the larger capacity Pulsar 375 will be capable of, a full fairing is something Bajaj could be actively exploring. Pricing, as usual, is anticipated to be the biggest game changer when it comes to the Pulsar 375, just as Bajaj Auto has demonstrated time and again with the value pricing card it has played with the Pulsar brand.
Expect the Pulsar 375 to be priced at about INR 1.5 lakhs given that the Pulsar 200 NS commands a price under a lakh. This would make the Pulsar 375 serious value-for-money for the kind of performance it is expected to offer with its 375cc liquid cooled engine. The Pulsar 375 could be launched
sometime in 2013, following the launch of the KTM Duke 375. The exact time frame for launch is expected to be known in the next few months. For now though, the brand new development is that the Pulsar 375 will be a single cylinder motorcycle even as Bajaj Auto is said to be working with KTM on a twin cylinder motorcycle platform.
