latest addition to my tool collection. Its a trolley jack.Capacity 5 tonnes.I already have a trolley jack of 3 tonne capacity. Its a heavy duty equipment, comes very handy when I want to raise my car in 5-6 seconds. OK maybe 10 seconds. But its still quite fast.I have bottle jacks as well as scissor jack too. But bottle jack is the most unsafe of the lot.It has a small base.So it can topple over and down comes the car on you!!
The problem in my gallery is that its all a slope. Wherever the car is parked its a slope,to drain water easily. So handbrake down and car roles back.It nowhere totally flat.
Slope is enemy no 1 of jacks. Most jack get warped up if the weight is at an angle and lateral forces are applied. They are meant for perpendicular forces only from above, and not at an angle.
I have ruined one scissor jack from Ritz(OEM one ).It just couldn't take it.It warped and came down and ruined under Ritz's wt itself. Just because of the stupid slope. Here the trolley jack becomes very important. It moves with the car.It doesn't give up.
The smaller one weighs 32 kg!!
The larger one weighs mind boggling( for a humble jack) 45 kg!!
Both the jacks ,when used in tandem are most handy if you do all 5 wheel rotation at home often as a hobby[;)]

Hey mayank is it a new purchase ? How much did the 5 ton cost you and what are its minimum and maximum height ?
I already had the 3 ton jack. 5 ton is the new one.
it was bought a few days back.I proudly brought it home on my Honda activa125 floorboard. You see auto market is very crowded here.I was very elated that day.Its 6.5k.
Min height 5 cms only.Max height 2.5 feet!!Xuv rear is very high. Most jacks I have, fail here. But not this monster.

Would you suggest to buy this type over the bottle jack ? I am also looking for a heavy duty jack for my T-fort too[;)]
Ideal scenario is you should have both!!Each one for different scenarios.
But if you have to choose one, well than trolley jack it should be.

I got veedol chain lube from the local store. I did cleaning of the bike chain, and sprocket. Along with it I cleaned the chain cover which had dirt clogging the outflow drain. Chain slack also needed adjustment. I had to use few tools from the Armory. Rest is shown in the pics.

Doc, is it okay for use little engine oil as chain lube? (not excess quantity)
Just asking.

BTW, I preserved a little 200ML engine oil from servicing of My XUV thunderbolt and I love to use it for all purposes, like in hinges, locks , bearings , fans etc. Seems to work far better than regular machine oil.

Ofcourse it is alright. I have already done this for the past decade!! It will get the work done.
But it will not last long. And it will be very messy. Also it will attract dust and grime like magnet.
So special chain grease is better.

some DIY pics I wanted to share. Actually when I found out that alignment was out and chain was overtight, I had to go about again today, bringing it up to the specifications given in the manual.
So far now:
Chain slack corrected.
All covers of chain and sprocket cleaned thoroughly.
Wheel is aligned.
Chain is cleaned as well as lubricated (thereby becoming soundless)

Here I am working on my 12 years old discover dtsi.

This is my BOX SPANNER SET. One of these is the spark plug spanner( which actually is a Box spanner).

I have all the sizes from smallest till 23'-24' size, which is quite big.
Most are of Venus brand. They can reach deep recesses, and can give reasonable amt. of torque with the help of tommy bar, which is put through the holes to give a turn. One of the most common type of tool in the household. Rusted one at the end of the line came with the bike 12 years ago.

Thanks for the request. My collection is replete but not as comprehensive as yours. Will post what I have.[:)]
Only what matters is your collection(of tools) and the knowledge it will give us. Big or small collection, doesn't matter.
Waiting for your pics sir.
still waiting for the candy from your side sir.[:D]

In the meantime some pics from my tool collection.

Hammer of the Thor collection.[glasses]
the 4th one from any side gives a very mean blow if you miss the target. I have been a victim twice!!

The longest one is about 1.5 feet long

I have pipe wrenches in 3 different sizes.
IMG-20180628-WA0016.jpg

these are very handy around the house when little bit plumbing is needed. I have done amateur /beginner level work with this around the taps and pipes and what not.

One slip, or one mistake with this tool and you loose a limb or permanent injury, maybe even death!!
IMG-20180628-WA0019.jpg

This tool is called strut spring compressor tool. It is very useful when shockers are dismantled and the spring has to be taken out for reuse in the new shocker. Its a dangerous piece of equipment too. As I have already said One slip, or one mistake with this tool and you loose a limb or permanent injury!!

Thanks for such motivation and Nice words. I usually buy from industry buying and Amazon as well as local markets like latouch road. I have been collecting for almost two decades now. So it's been quite some time you see. It's only now that I am sharing it with you all.
So it might look like a big collection but actually I did it small small at a time and slowly slowly over many years.

I can say with confidence that 90 percent of these are actually used already. They are not just for display purposes.

Yesterday evening there was a sudden air loss from my Honda activa rear tyre. On examining found a nail lodged in the tyre. Got a chance to use some of my tools to fix it and it was up and running in 20 minutes flat.
This time I tried not to remove the tyre and all and fix it as it is. It worked!!
And it saved a lot of time too. Time at the puncture Wala and all. Here are few pictures of the DIY.
