are you not rotating the stepney?
I have already rotated it multiple times in my home only!! It's like a plaything for me what with all the jacks at my disposal. The newish condition of the tyres is mainly due to less mileage/kms on it,and also due to multiple rotations done already. In Fact in the above pics (few posts earlier) you can see all five tyres are like that only(newish).

Recently completed successfully a trip to vaishnodevi.I got an average of 18km/lit all through the trip.Last 30 kms there was a jam on the GT road. After getting down from the AGRA-lucknow expressway,I staightaway royally entered the jam. And by the time I returned home, the average went for a toss.Still the final figure was 17.9kms/litre.This gives me tremendous satisfaction. This means to me 1)the machine is alright.2) I am driving it alright.

Problems faced during the trip:
During the trip( in the first 100 kms only) the drivers side window-winding motor packed up.Sometimes it would come up while other times it had to be pulled up by hand.It was very difficult managing this problem because at the toll plazas I can not open the whole door and come out every time to pay !!.I had to get this rectified ASAP .Went to the service centre yesterday. It was 45 deg in my city. Unbearable!!At the ASS I came to know that it was a known issue in XUV .And only a bearing( and not the motor) was faulty.
Problem is that they replaced the whole damn assembly!!,and they billed me for it.No warranty nothing.
My tyres are also getting frequent punctures these days.Don't know if its hard rubber or something.I have already started hunting for a new set,but have some time before I finalize the brand and pattern.
Here are some pics from the service centre,as well as some pics of XUV since returning from the trip.

The window is working fine now.Hope no new complaint crops up.
Now it's time to hunt for the tyres.

I paid 2700rs. Part cost was 1850 rs, and rest was the labour charges. I feel what ever I saved on the warranty (27000₹) some of that saving I am spending here. Still I saved a lot of money by not opting for it. It would have been painful if parts had failed within 5 years of the owner ship. Now is the 6th year, so no worries about it.

1. 18 KMPL is very decent mileage. BTW was this TF or MID method?
2. If vehicle is in warranty this should be covered no questions asked. I had my driver side motor replaced 2 years ago in warranty. They did it without a squeak.
3. Slightly older JKs get puncture prone. Mine Jks had lots of punctures are the end of life.

As I had already mentioned I never opted for the warranty. And saved 27,000 rs.
18 KMPL is by MID.I Never bother about Tankful to Tankful method. Its too boring and time consuming. In real world even if its 16 km/l,then also I am more than satisfied.

it can be anything from a .loose connector, rat bite to something as serious as blown turbo, bad ecu etc.

better call a tow truck.

Re: My Tool Collection & DIY Adventures With Them

I was not satisfied with the scenario,so visited ASS.I explained the situation and CEL appearance etc. They connected their smart device and error code P16A1 popped up.I do not know how serious it is.They said it shows A.C problem only.
What is the significance of error code no. P16A1 in XUV ??

The wheel balancing on your rims isn't correct, for alloys the balancing is to be done on the inside of the rims, preferably with sticker weights.

If its been 4 years - i think it is better to replace the tyres ,as rubber ages with time ,and our tropical climate enhances the wear rate.

Also its always better to take extended warranty ,as all modern day machines come with more electronics than mechanics .

.
Sir thanks for your concern.
That is OEM wheel balancing. It came from the factory. You can see the colour and finish of the weights used. It matches the alloys.
