Blue Diamond brought us home safely and comfortably after successfully completing our NE drive. No puncture. No breakdown. No accident. No problem whatsoever. View attachment 255760 View attachment 255761
Awesome Sir! But what caught my attention was Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru non stop in 26hours! 1431 km at an average speed of 55kmph.
I travelled from Vijayawada to Bengaluru in 13 hours via Kavali- Kadapa- Bagepalli and I got drained out. From then onwards going via Mulbagal- Punganur-Tirupati route and can do it in 10 odd hours.

Today, I took B Diamond to Concorde Motors, Mysore Road, Bangalore for the third free service. The odometer reading was 13,500 km only still short of atleast 1,000 km, but then, she was dirty and needed complete check up after the recent NE trip. So, called the service centre and I was informed there was no issue in getting the servicing done earlier than the prescribed odometer reading. Got the engine oil/oil filter replaced and wheel alignment and balancing done. Total amount spent: ₹4,268. Now, Blue Di is clean and shining. [:)]

While waiting during the service, I took a test-drive of Harrier, although I do not have any inclination to buy it. I could feel the power of 140 BHP. I drove in sport mode. I liked it.

Thanks, Vinod.
What's your take on Harrier.
I do not have any inclination to buy it. I could feel the power of 140 BHP. I drove in sport mode. I liked it. Looked like a big brother of Nexon. Well-built, good interiors with a powerful engine. Glaring omission: no disc brakes for rear wheels. Let me see who brings the combination of diesel+AT+cruise control first, Harrier or XUV 300.

Now that Blue Di completed 13,500 km and third free servicing including the first engine oil replacement, it's time to look at the servicing cost and compare it with my previous cars notwithstanding their differences. I am happy at the statistical outcome: I spend less for servicing of Blue Di at ₹ 0.34/km at 2018-19 rates for 13,500 km as against ₹ 0.42/km at 2013-18 rates for 9,733 km of XUV 500 and ₹ 0.46/km [2009-13 rates] for 8,580 km of Linea after the first oil replacement. Even considering the figures after the third free service, Nexon recorded ₹ 0.34/km [2018-19, 13,500 km] vs XUV 500's ₹ 0.53/km [2013-18, 20,131 km] vs Linea's ₹ 0.30/km [2009-13, 23,958 km].

Incidentally, the service provider is the same for Nexon [third free service] and Linea [second and third free service].

I require 2 dedicated 12V charging sockets, one exclusively for charging my ever-useful mini torch light and the other for phones. I did not face any problem in my erstwhile XUV 500, which had 3 charging points. In the beginning, even Nexon used to come with 2 charging points one in the front and the other in the rear. But, B Diamond was delivered to me without the rear charging point due to cost-cutting indulged by Tata Motors.

Bangalore>Trichy>Thanjavur>Darasuram>Gangaikonda Cholapuram>Chennai . 751 km . 18.6 kmpl

Blue Diamond was busy on 17 and 18 March 2019. We left Bangalore Basaveswara Nagar home at 1 am on 17/03, reached Trichy at 6:30 am, attended a function, had breakfast and lunch there, got B Diamond a tankful at TVS BP on the bypass road, reached Hotel Gnanam, Thanjavur at 1 pm, visited the Brihadisvara temple - one of the great living Chola temples - in the evening, dined at Sree Ariya Bhavan and called it a day. The next day on 18/03, visited the Airavatesvara temple at Darasuram and Brihadisvara temple at Gangaikonda Cholapuram, had evening snacks at Aaryas, Tindivanam bypass, got B Diamond a tankful at Woodlands Enterprises, Dr Radhakrishnan Road and reached Chennai Royapettah home at 8:20 pm. B Diamond recorded a FE of 18.6 kmpl tankful-to-tankful as against the MID figure of 22.1 kmpl, the difference being 3.5 kmpl. I will post some photographs here after editing.
