Great job. I have always wanted them for my car as well. Did you change the bulb also? Because the stock one for Maruti 800 lights up yellow.

re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Yesterday, the 1st time my car stalled in the road [frustration], it was refusing to start, checked every thing though it was perfect it was not starting the came to know that the TIMING BELT had gone, then I got my friends MM540 and towed it our self [evil] (me and my dad) to home, today got the timing belt (MGP 695rs) and took our mechanic to my home and fixed. Labour 500rs.

Pls let me know what is the life of an timing belt (kms).

re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Good report ,

the rear wiper installation is one thing that i like much ,

thank the star that only timing belt was needed to replace.

in 99% of the case esp the diesel (even in present alto), timing belt cut or slip makes the valve bend , and the head need a lathe job.

re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Thanks for the info, what is life of an timing belt ?
generally most case the timing belt is advised to replace near 80k to 1L kms or 5 to 6 years of car's age..
and best advice is to change them with tensioners. 800 doesnt have any .

For indica/indigo the tensioner cost 800 to1000 each in authorized service station and 450 and 400 same tvs make in authorized spares!

Same were the case with ciello and matiz and some 800's where the belt cut/worn were just a matter of replacement without head overhaul etc.

And indica DICOR owner's beware , your belt will last striclty for 80000 or 4 year. replace at the cost of 2000 maximum to save 30000/- . 2 such cases in our workshop.

and the super car(hehe ) sierra need to replace at 50000kms or 3 years .

best advice for sierra is change at an interval of 40000kms

In that case - it was the correct time. His car has clocked near this much, I assume.
