Hi everyone,
This is my first thread on TAI and pleasure to tell about my kinetic restoration.
Thankful with two persons for my restoration work. First Deville_56 for his thread The Mighty Kiney – Kinetic Honda DX ‘92 which i got ideas on the restoration plan. I made my kiney new look by adopting Dilip's(Deville_56) mighty kiney. Then Febil_k.i my friend (also a TAI-ger) who inspired me on the work and helped me a lot for me in finding spare parts, good mechanic and painter, etc.
It is a kinetic zx, black colored with grey body panels made in 1999. The restoration is in the memory of my father as he used it from 2k until he fell ill. He brought her home with pride in 2k. The legacy 2stroke scooter.
After his death my parents and relatives tell me to sell it and i tried hard to save her. Later it is used by one of my cousin and he screwed her. From then for 6 month time it is parked in our porch untouched. As the retest for kiney is in the april i've to make her alive and repainted.
Febil told me about restoring kiney and we've decided for a classic restoration. As we've to complete the work fast and due to some reasons we decide to do the work outside.(first decided to do it ourself)
The mechanical problems with kiney are
*battery is dead so no self start.
*she need 6-10 kicks to start.
*very less pulling
*autochoke is dead
First i bring a mechanic near my house to check her. He told me to replace the kicker assembly and decarbonize the silencer to make her alive.
He show me the kicker wheel which gets really weared.

The mech give me list of things to purchase and they are
Kicker lever 145
Kicker wheel 198
Kicker shaft 170
Rubber bush 60
Kicker spring 18
Lock 18
Grease 57
Cotton waste 10
Total spares costs rs.670.
He replace the assembly and clean the carburettor with a charge of rs.600

After the kicker assembling kiney starts in 1-2 kicks . Then i replaced the old battery with Amaron maintenance free battery for rs.1100(including old battery exchange). In a single touch self-starts with a rhythm of bell.

The mechanic told me to buy the plastic carriage of the filter foam as it's broken. I asked every shoppers at thrissur and all of them shake their head with negative reply. At last i got it from a scrap dealer in Thrissur Pattalam market. It comes with the air filter box(filter box+rear mudguard assembly) for rs.100.

Next work on kiney is front shock absorber. I brought a pair of brand new Gabriel shock absorber which comes with 3 month warranty for oil leak and set of arm bushes.

Kiney already have 90/100-10 MRF Zapper shoes.
Next day i take her to a nice mechanic for the silencer decarbonisation. He made 3 cuts on the silencer and put it in fire, then gas welded. All these done with reasonable labour charge of rs.540.

After the work kiney clocked 80kmph without any lag or revs(till then kiney take only 20-30kmph).

Kudos for the job [clap]
First snap is eye candy and all your passion and hard work is getting reflected in each and every inch of the vehicle. Spares for this scooter is getting difficult to find. If you could find them, I would suggest to stock additional set of spares for the future. Keep posting the complete restoration history.
