To power the sub you will need an amp.
Sub can't be connected directly to any normal stereo.
It'll get overloaded and IC will burn

Re: DIY Audio Amplifier

The cassette player I installed was giving some troubles, so decided to make my own amplifier.

12v to 5v converter using IC LM7805

Its an amplifier with 4440 double IC with sound output of 200W PMPO. Tested it with 2 Harman 50w 10" woofers, 2 Sony 150w speakers and 2 tweeters.

Sounds nice.

Will install it in the car soon

Nice DIY, It would be better if you make some thing for the looks of the player..

Why not mount every thing to the dash it looks cool !! Hide the circuit boards behind.

takes me back to my early days in india, my dad came first here and got a second hand maruti 800 from a doctor who took care of it i don't remember the year dad brought it in '98 but i guess it was earlier then yours, it was the best! cheap maintenance we used to drive it to goa an all think we put in 1.25l km before we sold it in 2003 for 45k don't remember how much it totally drove. dad was very particular about the car. Only thing was the car came with a small radiator fan motor which meant we could not use the ac continuously we changed it for a bigger motor. Engine was never opened at all only carburetor was overhauled a couple of times. Really loved that car. Best part is any one can work on it and parts are easily available.

Re: My first DIY in the car

The first DIY I did is LED parking Lights. One evening, after returning from the office I decided to Install LED's instead of the bulb for the parking lamp.
I have used four 3v LED's costing Rs. 3 each. for each light. PCB board and wires were already at home. total cost of the DIY is Rs 24 and time taken is 30 mins.

Opened the Light and removed the bulb

Properly taped the PCB to prevent any short-circuit, etc

Today I found that the lock of my fuel tank and boot is malfunctioned. A friend of mine was willing to drive my car but I didn't gave him the keys. So he tried his bike keys. He was successful to open the boot and climbed up inside. [surprise]
Next, we checked all the locks with different keys and found that boot and fuel filler lock were malfunctioned. I was able to unlock the steering and start the car using my Activa key
Maruti 800 locks can be easily picked using other keys. So, my question is that can we use any other car (alto, zen etc) locks in Maruti 800 so that its a bit safer.

The total cost of the amplifier is Rs 600. It can be made within Rs 400-500 if local parts are used. I used SANYO ICs and components from Phillips and Elcon, thus it was a little expensive.

Will post the pics soon
