Re: Guide To Car Safety Features

Pedestrian detection

This system uses the features of forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking to help protect pedestrians. The vehicle’s camera(s) or radar are looking for a pedestrian in the vehicle's path. Some systems will alert the driver with an audible or visual alert and some will even start automatic emergency braking if a collision is deemed high.

Rear cross-traffic alert

These systems sense traffic that may cross your path as you reverse, which can be helpful when you are backing out of a parking space or driveway. Some systems will automatically brake for the driver to avoid an object.

Lane-keeping assist (LKA)

In addition to sensing when you leave your lane, this technology will introduce a mild steering input to put you back into your lane.

Automatic high beams

This function automatically switches from low to high beam and back again, for improved nighttime visibility as conditions warrant.

Re: Guide To Car Safety Features

This is an excellent thread Nairrk,

I think the minimum safety feature all cars should be manufactured with are:
1] ABS with EBD
2] 4 Airbags( Front and Side curtain)
3] TPMS (I personally feel that this is a very important feature generally ignored even by users, many accidents happen due to tyre burst.)

These 3 safety features should be the minimum criteria for all new cars.

4] ESP
5] Traction Control
The next 2 important safety feature

All this along with rest of the features will make the roads and passengers safer.

Re: Guide To Car Safety Features

yes active and passive safety features are necessarily incorporated with intention of preventing collisions / accidents and minimize injury to occupants and pedestrians .Sleep reminders in steering wheel/seats ,audible warning systems for over speeding, automatic headlight beam adjustment to prevent blinding of on-coming traffic can also be part of such safety systems.

https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/advanced-safety-technologies-that-should-be-part-of-all-cars-in-india-409606

A very important topic discussed in the above link.
1)ESC
Electronic Stability Control
2)Lane Keep Assist
3)AEB
Autonomous Emergency Braking
4)AES
Autonomous Emergency Steering
5)Anti- Dazzle Headlights

Out of the above 5 safety features,
ESC is a very important feature which can be easily introduced into all cars due to its proximity to ABS.
The upcoming BS6 norms should include ESC as a compulsion in all cars manufactured in 2019.
