“We are reducing on export of diesel engines significantly to cater to the domestic demand. Currently we export about 35,000 to 45,000 units every year to Hungary. We will reduce it to almost negligible levels in the next six months. The additional engines that we get (after cutting exports) will go for the Swift in India,” Mayank Pareek, Managing Executive officer (Marketing and Sales), Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), said.

Re: Maruti Suzuki reduces diesel engine exports to meet local demand

This seems a welcome news for prospective new swift owners. Also, i believe that there will be a impact/ reconsideration if there is a prise rise for Diesel as mentioned in another thread.

They should have done this long back IMO! The Swift diesel is having a heavy waiting period and such a waiting period for just an ordinary economy hatch is not acceptable for me! I am not waiting for a Bentley or a Ferrari to wait for several months together!
