The country's second largest two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto today reported 2.90 percent fall in motorcycle sales at 3,08,858 units in July. The company had sold 3,18,095 units in the corresponding month last year, according to Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL).
It was reported that BAL said exports also fell by 12.84 percent during the month at 1,25,501 units compared to 1,43,996 units in July 2011. In the three-wheeler category, the company said its sales stood at 35,292 units against 45,617 units in the same month last year, a dip of 22.63 percent.

It was also reported that the total vehicle sales of the company in the last month stood at 3,44,150 units compared to 3,63,712 units in the same period a year ago, a decline of 5.38 percent.

Hero MotoCorp sales dip 12 per cent in August

Country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp today reported a dip of 11.88 per cent in sales at 4,43,801 units in August.

The company had sold 5,03,654 units in August, 2011, Hero MotoCorp said in a statement.

Commenting on its numbers, Hero MotoCorp Senior Vice- President (Marketing and Sales) Anil Dua said: "The dispatch numbers of August reflect the market sentiment.

The two-wheeler industry in the country has been facing a challenging time due to the overall macro-economic situation which has adversely affected retail sales, both in the urban and the rural markets".

Suzuki Motorcycle India, a subsidiary of one of the world's leading two-wheeler manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corporation, registered a 36 per cent in-crease in their August 2012 sales figures compared to August 2011.

Suzuki Motorcycle sold 36,524 units in August 2012 as opposed to 26,900 units in August 2011, recording a strong growth in its overall sales. Suzuki Motorcycles has maintained a consistent growth path over the last couple of years.

Commenting on this strong growth pattern, Suzuki Motorcycle India vice president sales & marketing Atul Gupta said: "We have received a good response from the market for all our products. The growing customer satisfaction has led to positive word-of-mouth in the market. We will continue to give the best to our customers."

TVS Motor sales down 20.6 per cent in August

Two-wheeler major TVS Motor Company today reported 20.6 per cent dip in sales at 1,54,647 units in August.

The city-based company had sold 1,94,898 units during the same month last year.

Sales of two-wheelers plunged to 1,50,740 units in August 2012 as against 1,90,184 units recorded in August 2011, the company said in a statement.

The company had sold 3,907 units of three-wheelers in August 2012 as against 4,714 units in the same month last year, it said.

The company's domestic sales witnessed a drop to 1,35,513 units in August 2012 from 1,63,705 units in August 2011, it said.

Sales of motorcycles dipped to 53,673 units in August 2012 from 77,726 units sold in the same month of last year.

The company also saw a slump in its sales of scooters to 38,193 units in August 2012 as against 52,253 units in the same month of previous year.

On exports front, the company witnessed a 40.1 per cent slump on its sales at 17,934 units in August 2012 as against 29,984 units in the same month of last year.

Exports of motorcycles declined by 42.4 per cent at 15,227 units in August this year as against 26,479 units in August, 2011.

Bajaj bike sales down by a whopping 10 pc in August[cry]

The country's second largest two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto today reported 9.97 per cent fall in motorcycle sales at 3,04,352 units in August.

The company had sold 3,38,054 units in the same month last year, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) said in a statement.

It said exports also fell by 4.82 per cent during the month at 1,31,562 units compared to 1,38,225 units in August 2011, it added.

In the three-wheeler category, the company said its sales stood at 40,554 units as against 44,685 units in the same month last year, a dip of 9.24 per cent.

Total vehicle sales of the company in the last month stood at 3,44,906 units compared to 3,82,739 units in the same period a year ago, a decline of 9.88 per cent, the statement said.

Suzuki Motorcycle sold 38,267 units in September 2012 as opposed to 29,094 units in September 2011, recording a strong growth in its overall sales. Suzuki Motorcycles has maintained a consistent growth path over the last couple of years.

None of the OEM's publish model wise sales so it's difficult to get those figures.

Scooter sales dipped by 28.32 per cent to 40,055 units

Mahindra Two Wheelers report YTD sales at 58,689 units

Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd (MTWL), a part of the US $ 15.4 billion Mahindra Group, continued to enhance its presence in the Indian two wheeler market. The company’s cumulative scooter sales during April to September 2012 were at 58,689 units. Standalone sales in September 2012 touched 8,122 units. Despite tough market conditions, Mahindra Two Wheelers crossed the landmark figure of 4 lakh units.

The country's second largest two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto today reported 15.06 per cent fall in motorcycle sales at 3,15,314 units in September.

The company had sold 3,71,208 units in the corresponding month last year, Bajaj Auto Ltd said in a statement.

BAL said exports also fell by 6.12 per cent during the month at 1,33,222 units compared to 1,41,913 units in September 2011.

In the three-wheeler category, the company said its sales stood at 44,838 units against 46,478 units in the same month last year, a dip of 3.53 per cent.

Total vehicle sales of the company in the last month stood at 3,60,152 units compared to 4,17,686 units in the same period a year ago, a decline of 13.77 per cent, the statement said.

HMSI sales up 38 percent in September 2012

Overall sales up by 36 percent, motorcycles grew by 60 percent while scooters grew by 21 percent during the month.

Riding high on the success of its mass motorcycle, the 109cc Dream Yuga, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) registered domestic sales of 231,269 units during September 2012 as against 167,973 units sold in September 2011, which translates into a growth of 37.68 percent YoY. Total sales, including exports and CKD units, comprised 242,941 units during the month, a 36 percent increase over the 178,462 units sold in September 2011.

Almost levelling the sales of its motorcycles and scooters with every passing month, the company sold 113,379 motorcycles and 129,562 scooters during September 2012 reporting a YoY growth of 60 percent and 21 percent respectively. “Traditionally September is a lean month for manufacturers.

Despite the slowdown, Honda is bucking the trend by registering a healthy domestic growth of 38 percent in September 2012. With the excellent response to the Dream Yuga in the mass motorcycle segment and production expansion, we look forward to maintaining this growth momentum in this upcoming festive season too," said YS Guleria, vice-president, sales and marketing, HMSI (pictured).

Hero Motocorp sells 5.29 lakh two-wheelers in October 2012, including 50K scooters

Hero MotoCorp Ltd, today reported a dispatch of 5,29,215 units of two-wheelers in October 2012. In the corresponding month the previous year, the company had sold 512,238 units. Interestingly, the company sold over 3.50 lakh units of two-wheelers in the first 15 days of the festive period – starting from the first day of Navratra (Oct 16th onwards).

Already the second-largest player in the scooters segment since September this year, Hero MotoCorp also recorded its highest-ever scooter sales for any month by crossing the threshold 50,000 units in October.

The new 110cc scooter – Hero Maestro – has been a block-buster and together with the 100cc scooter Pleasure, HMCL has now started clocking an average of close to 50,000 units per month. Encouraged by the success of its scooters, HMCL has already scaled up its scooter production to over 60,000 units a month to meet the overwhelming customer demand.

Mr. Anil Dua, Sr. Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp Ltd said, “Our October story is about touching new milestones – highest-ever October sales, over half-a-lakh of scooter sales and retail of over 3.50 lakh units of two-wheelers in just 15 days of the festival period.
