Hello friends
Since last 4 months my IndigoCS TDI mileage droped to 16.5 against 18kmpl. Got the service done two days ago, changed diseal filter, oil filter. I insisted the mechanic to change airfilter also but he said no need, just cleaned it and installed. There are some black spots on air filter and it had run some 80k km. Every year 90% of my drive is on highway.

Is it all 18kmpl i can get from my Indigo? coz people say that indigo is very much fuel effecient and it gives 20kmpl easily.
How can i get these figures in my car?
I never used fuel additives till now, do i need to use it now? If yes which one(for diseal)
Plase help me in increasing the mileage
Also the rear wheels are soo hard that i can hardly rotate them by my hand. What to do to make them free.
Thanks

Re: Mileage drop-IndigoCs TDI

you should try driving in following speed at respective gear.
0-10 1st
10 - 25 2nd
25-40 3rd
40-50 4th
50-70 5th
driving car in proper torque band yeilds maximum fuel efficiency.

Re: Mileage drop-IndigoCs TDI

Thanks Jayadev for a quick reply.
I strictly follow shift pionts which you specified but of no use.
Also never use clutch and accelerator until and unless they are required.
Is there something else that i should do to improve FE.

Re: Mileage drop-IndigoCs TDI

Cleaning the filters can make some difference.

Also have a check at the pump where you are filling diesel.

For my car, noticed a drop in FE for 3 fillings in a row (Tank full to Tank full). Eventhough the it was the same pump where I was filling for last one year. Changed the fuel station and FE increased for the nest two tank full sessions.

Individual pump attenders can cause trouble with short filling.

TATA ASS mechanic told me to add 250ml of engine oil (castrol 15W40) with 20Lts of diseal. Is it going to have some impact on mileage. Please clarify.

use engine oil with the diesel what ?????[frustration]
I have not heard that one before
as per auto try a new station for filling up diesel
I have tried the same on my petrol car and that has worked
you never know what tactics fuel station follows once they recognize you as regular customer

Did 3 tank-full test's from different filling stations till now. Am getting an average of 15.35 kmpl on highway. Its really frustrating me. Changed air filter also, still mileage did'nt improved.
Should i go for decarbonization?.
Do Changing of all the belts really help?
What other things should i look-out for?[confused]
Guys please help me.
Thanks

I suspect that the A.S.S. must have not changed the fuel filter and the engine oil as they often thug customers unless u stand in front of them when they are changing the parts.
My suggestion to you is get some good engine oil like mobil delvac mx/1300 or shell helix and a new fuel filter from a good spares shop and get it replaced in front of you from a good FNG . It should cost you more plus would recommend using normal diesel for refills.
U can get a decarb done if u want. Again go to an independent FNG and get it done in front of you.
Regarding ur rear wheel get the brakes and the bearing checked asap.

The mechanci changed everything including Engine oil in front of me.
He is willing to change all the belts and i don't thing the changing of belts has much impact on mileage.

UPDATE:Mileage Drop - Tata Indigo CS TDI

Serviced all the four nozles for Rs. 150/- today.
Paid Rs.150/- for the mechanic(opening and refitting).
Will see the mileage for next tank-full.
Initially the mechanic said bash pump might require servicing and started with nozles.
Thanks All

Regarding the rear wheels. Ask mechanic to check the rear wheel bearing.

When I the same kind of problem with my black Indica, mechanic changed the bearings and the problem rectified.

For mileage issue, check the fuel pump in your car.

If possible do the service, it will definitely increase the performance as well as mileage.

Sorry for the late reply.
No friend I didn’t find much improvement in mileage. Checked 3 days ago and got 16.8 kmpl without AC, 90% of highway run.
Yet to service Bash pump.
