MG Motor Begins Car Subscription Program With Myles

07ur83qc_mg-subscribe-myles_625x300_09_June_20.jpg

A partnership that was announced in 2019 has finally taken shape as the country gets ready to adjust to the new normal amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Myles, a self-driven car rental company has added the MG Hector as one of the cars it offers to customers on subscription basis. In the era of social distancing this may well turn out a practical way of owning personal set of wheels especially for those who do not want to invest a huge sum of money in buying a new car.

The car is available for subscription both for individuals as well as corporates.

MG Motor India Begins Production Of Hector Plus SUV In India

MG Motor India has commenced the commercial production of the Hector Plus in India. We already knew that the company will manufacture the Hector Plus at its Halol plant, and we exclusively told you that the SUV will be launched in India in July this year. MG Motor India showcased the Hector Plus at the Auto Expo 2020 and it was just last week that we gave you a glimpse of the new colour that it will offered in. In fact the 'Starry Sky Blue' colour that the Hector Plus was spotted in, is exclusive to the model and it was then that we gave you details about the launch as well. The car was to be launched earlier, but has been delayed due to the ongoing covid-19 crisis.

The MG Hector Plus will also be a connected car as it will come with Over the Air (OTA) technology, allowing customers to update software/firmware, feature themes, and infotainment content seamlessly. The Hector Plus will be the company's third SUV in the country and will sit above the 5-seater Hector. While the 5-seater is priced between ₹ 12.74 lakh to ₹ 17.73 lakh, we expect the Hector Plus to cost a little more than that.

MG and IIMPACT drive girl child education with e-learning centers during the New Normal

MG and IIMPACT drive girl child education with e-learning centers during....jpeg

Gurugram, July 21, 2020:
In a bid to prepare underprivileged girls for the ‘New Normal’, MG Motor India has now launched an e-learning initiative called ‘IIMPACT- ech Studio: e-Siksha, Ek Nayi Disha’ with IIMPACT – an NGO for Girl Child Education. As part of the initiative, the automaker will deploy e-learning solutions across 15 IIMPACT Learning Centres (LCs) in 5 cities.

MG and IIMPACT have an active partnership for the education of socially and economically marginalized girls since the automaker’s launch in India. So far, MG has supported IIMPACT’s 50 learning centres across the country. Both MG and IIMPACT are now converting 15 of these centers into e-learning centers beginning with 5 cities. The automaker is simultaneously driving the tech enablement of IMPACT HQ’s Training & Professional Development Department. It will empower an additional 1800+ IIMPACT LCs across 11 states through a cascading approach. The primary focus of the initiative is on the quality content dissemination for students and the teachers. It will further supplement the program with the professional development of the teachers, thereby aptly addressing the education needs of the rural girls.

A share from each MG HECTOR and MG HECTOR PLUS sold directly contributes to this initiative/girl child education. MG had previously conducted a similar program and supported the education of more than 60,000 girls in India.

Speaking on the initiative, Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India, said, “The New Normal has created an enormous need gap within education. Today, students all across the country are learning via the ‘study from home’ model. However, it is not possible for social and economically marginalized students due to the lack of digital devices at their disposal. At MG, we strongly believe in giving back to the society and creating a level-playing field for everyone. So, with IIMPACT, our vision is to address this need gap to the very extent possible. We perhaps wish to give our out-of-school girls something more than education. With this initiative, we intend to give them wings.”

Shubhangi Sharma, Executive Director, IIMPACT, said “The partnership is aimed at imparting quality education to girls between the ages of 6 years to 14 years. It will support the education needs of out-of-school, irregular, or dropped-out girls dwelling within these regions. MG Motor will use technology as an enabler to develop content, create and disseminate Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs), and impart training that would directly impact the quality of education provided at these centres. This will be accompanied by tech interventions at a central level to enhance the child’s attendance, participation, and retention.”

A cascading approach will be followed in the program which will train 200 mentor teachers via a blended-training methodology. They will then train 1,800 teachers, thereby benefitting a corresponding number of students.

MG Motor India considers ‘community’, ‘diversity’, ‘innovation’, and ‘environment’ as important stakeholders in its business and has undertaken many initiatives under MG SEWA and Sustainability.

About MG SEWA

MG SEWA is an umbrella platform to serve immediate communities with whom the company interacts, especially in Vadodara, Halol, and Gurgaon. Under the Program, the carmaker started supporting the education of girl students in 2019, and more than 60,000 girls have benefitted from it so far. Other initiatives under MG SEWA include skilling unemployed women to make masks, educating 100 teachers and more than 4 Lakh children on road safety in Gurgaon, and sanitising 4,000 police cars. Furthermore, MG has also facilitated enhanced production of ventilators by providing technological and infrastructure support to an MSME player, Max Ventilator, at Vadodara. The production has been ramped up to 4 times in the last 2 months. Recently, the carmaker provided more than 100 Hector cars to frontline workers and donated Hector Ambulances as part of the same. The company has been at the forefront to ensure that migrant labourers received food during the nationwide lockdown. Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. Rakesh Sidana Director – Sales, MG Motor India, said, “The highest monthly sales achieved in March 2021 are very encouraging with momentum continuing for our product lines. MG is currently offering the ZS EV with Myles and Zoomcar with Orix as a part of a monthly subscription plan as well, which is seeing a good response.

“However, we are likely to see a disruption in the supply chain due to shortage of semiconductor chips globally as well as the the second wave of Covid. We may observe a few NPDs (no production days) in April 2021 as a preventive measure. We assure our customers that we will provide transparent communication to them throughout,” Sidana added.

MG Motor India focuses on community service to break the chain and give relief to suppliers; diverts industrial oxygen

Gurugram, May 1, 2021
: MG Motor India has been focusing on serving the communities in these challenging times. It has now decided to close its plant for 7 days and conserve industrial oxygen so that it can be diverted to the healthcare segment.

Mr. Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India, said, “In these times, our efforts are directed towards keeping people safe and maximizing service to the communities.”

The carmaker has also joined hands with Devnandan Gases Pvt. Ltd. in Gujarat recently. The association has increased the production of oxygen by 15% per hour at one of the latter's plants in Vadodara within a week of their partnership. MG further aims to increase it by 50% soon.

Under its community service umbrella MG SEWA, the carmaker is dedicated to serving society. It has recently announced that it is providing lunch to families of patients at GMERS Hospital. At present, MG’s Hector Ambulances continue to serve doctors and medical staff during their service to the nation. The carmaker is also importing oxygen concentrators for the affected family members of its employees. More similar initiatives are expected to be announced under MG SEWA soon.

Going forward, the carmaker does not see any deterioration in demand. However, supply-chain constraints would continue in the month of May 2021. The production will be impacted by the shortage of semiconductor chips globally and the limitation in working hours due to curfews and lockdowns in various parts of the country.

As a result of the lockdown, sales during the last 15 days of April 2021 were also impacted and overall retail sales during the month stood at 2,565 units. However, MG Motor India’s production and vehicle dispatches to dealers were significantly higher than retail sales, with the carmaker currently having an order backlog of over 3 months across its product lines. The carmaker is currently left with no stock at its Gujarat plant.

MG Motor India continues to follow the COVID-19 protocols across all consumer touch-points. The brand assures its customers of complete safety with sanitization under the Disinfect & Deliver program. Its service centers are currently operating with minimal staff while catering to the requirements of its customers. The carmaker is also providing free vaccination to its employees and is focused on facilitating the same to its dealerships. It is also encouraging its dealers to provide insurance to their staff.

MG Motor India retail sales triple in June 2021 compared to May

Gurugram, July 1, 2021
: MG Motor India retailed 3558 units in June this year, recording a three-fold rise from 1016 units sold in May 2021. With phased unlocking, the carmaker registered a significant increase in enquiries and bookings.

Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. Rakesh Sidana, Director – Sales, MG Motor India, said, “We are seeing early signs of positive consumer sentiment in June and potential purchases due to pent-up demand, which was on hold due to the pandemic. Even though some markets are still under lockdown, the ramping up of the vaccination drive has given us hope and we expect the demand to increase during the festival season. However, we have to remain cautious of the potential threat posed by the third wave.”

The production levels are impacted in June and will remain so in July-August due to the global shortage of semiconductor chips.

The carmaker has retailed 7139 units during 2021 Q2, registering a significant growth of 162% over 2,722 units sold in the same quarter last year.
