New Delhi, Jan. 09:
MG (Morris Garages) Motor India today announced the name of its much-awaited SUV: ‘HECTOR’, ahead of its market launch in the middle of this year.
The name HECTOR draws inspiration from the noble qualities of the Trojan warrior hero – Prince HECTOR of Troy. HECTOR’ stands for everything Strong, Bold yet Trustworthy and Dependable. There is also a deeper connection to its engineering and heroic references, as the name seeks to demonstrate the design influence of these values, as exhibited by the geometrical cuts and design of the MG SUV.

HECTOR also pays homage to great British engineering tradition, as a nod to the Royal HECTOR biplane, used by the Royal Air Force in the 1930s.

MG HECTOR will go in to production in Q2 2019 at the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat. With over 75% localisation levels to begin with the company aims to enter the growing premium SUV segment with a best-in-class offering that sets a new benchmark in its segment.

“Based on the company’s global platform, the HECTOR has been heavily re-engineered to enrich product attributes and suit the evolving preferences of the customers and Indian road conditions. With 100 sales and service touch points in place by May 2019, we are confident that we will be able to exceed the market expectations with HECTOR,” said Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India.

The carmaker had already started showcasing its global vehicles across 10 major cities in India to get closer to its prospective customers. The company has also recently revamped its website www.mgmotor.co.in by making it an experience cloud for its users, through which customers can learn more about the iconic British brand and stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming HECTORSUV.

Upcoming MG Hector Compact SUV To Sport Segment's Largest Panoramic Sunroof

gtgmirp_mg-hector_625x300_30_January_19.jpg

According to exclusive information with our Editor, the MG Hector will feature a massive dual-pane panoramic glass sunroof. We have since further gleaned its actual dimensions and can tell you that this will be the biggest panoramic sunroof in the segment. The sunroof is 1460 mm X 832 mm, and that makes it larger than the Jeep Compass' 1278 mm X 877 mm. It's also an all-electric operation for the sunroof system, which is the pop-up and slide kind. This allows for the larger glass expanse, and also a bigger aperture when the roof is popped open all the way.

With plethora of features at V F M price tag is safest bet to success in India ,BUT only drawback is if the product is proved to be cheap with niggles in initial phase you are washed out ( datsun ) so MG please make the quality of hector upto acceptable levels and we might just see the same phenomenon as oppo , vivo and mi did to samsung ( Korean hyundai ) ,apple ( ford ,G M ) sony ( Japanese honda ,tyota ) and micromax ,karbon ( maruti , tata,,mahindra )
