Whats interesting is that Maruti hints at new badging for the most popular B segment premium hatchback, which is Swift S. MSIL could also add upgraded / upturned engine, specifically the 1.3 litre DDIS unit. Currently, it is producing 75 PS max. power @ 4000 rpm and 190 Nm peak torque @ 2000 rpm. This oil burner could be replaced with more powerful version, DDiS 200, that will feature in Maruti Ciaz sedan, generating 90 PS at 4,000 rpm power and 200 Nm peak torque.
Further, 1.4 litre K-Series petrol engine (K14 VVT) to come with Maruti Ciaz could also find its way into new Swift S. This motor produces 95 PS max. power @ 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm peak torque @ 4,000 rpm in Ciaz. If it does feature in Swift S, it would be seen in mid-level and top end variant only. Base version would continue to use current 1.2 litre K series petrol engine pushing 87 PS @ 6200 rpm and 114 Nm @ 4000 rpm.
