Any info on the Auto Transmission for this update? The existing 4 speed AT is simply outdated and is a fuel guzzler(as per existing owner's review) , hope they provide a CVT or a 6 speed AT

2018 Maruti Ciaz teaser video released – New details revealed about Honda City rival

Maruti Suzuki India is all set to update their new Ciaz sedan. First launched in 2014, the new Ciaz sedan is the most expensive Maruti on sale in the country today. This shows how important the car is for Maruti, especially for their aim to transform itself into a premium car brand.

With bookings of the new Maruti Ciaz already open at all Nexa dealers across India, the company has now released the official teaser video of the car which shows the new features of Ciaz in detail.

The first shot of the teaser reveals the revised headlight design, which looks much more sharper, thanks to the addition of Audi-styled arrow LED DRLs. Next is the shot of LED tail-lamps, which seem to be inspired by a BMW luxury sedan. You also get the first look at the machine cut premium alloys of new Ciaz in the teaser. Then comes the stylish new honeycomb chrome grille with a large Suzuki logo in the center. No where on the car will you see the badge of Maruti. It only has Suzuki branding.

Though interiors are not yet revealed officially, leaked spy shots confirm the presence of dual tone dashboard with steering mounted controls, cruise control, Smartplay infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. There is no sunroof though. Watch the teaser video below.

Powering the new Ciaz is a 1.5 liter petrol engine. This is an all new generation engine, developed in-house by Maruti for Indian customers. It delivers 104 PS power and 138 Nm torque. Transmission option on offer is manual as well as automatic. AMT is not expected to be on offer. Mileage expected is 21+ kmpl, making it the most fuel efficient petrol sedan in the segment.

Diesel engine on offer is a 1.3 liter Fiat sourced multijet, which was already on offer with the older Ciaz. This engine is mated to a 5 speed MT and is rated at 90 PS and 200 Nm. Mileage expected is 27+ kmpl.

More details will be revealed at launch event. We will also be test driving the car soon and share first drive review. Once launched, Maruti Ciaz will continue its rivalry with the Honda City and Hyundai Verna.

As the launch of the 2018 Ciaz draws closer, more details about the facelift have started surfacing. We have managed to get all the details regarding the variants and color options which will be offered on the car right from the launch. Read on, to find out more!

The 2018 Ciaz will continue with the variant nomenclature which all Nexa cars follow, which comprises of the Sigma, Delta, Zeta and the Alpha grades. The new 1.5 litre petrol engine (104 PS / 138 Nm) will come along with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed automatic transmission option as well, however, the automatic variant will miss out on the Sigma grade.

The color options on offer will be similar to the ones on the pre-facelift Ciaz. The color options are: Nexa Blue, Metallic Premium Silver, Pearl Midnight Black, Metallic Magma Grey, Pearl Metallic Dignity Brown, Pearl Sangria Red and Pearl Snow White. We aren’t sure if the minor change in names are just a marketing exercise or will it result in a different shade of colors.

Re: Maruti Suzuki's Ciaz Facelift Coming Soon

The Facelifted Ciaz will definitely enjoy good sales figures. Looking forward to the 1.5L Petrol Engine combined with SHVS.

But the bummer here is the yesteryear's 4 speed autobox[frustration]. Only saving grace is that, the 4 speed AT has better fuel economy numbers compared to other 4 speed AT on the market which is the Xcent and Grand i10.
And hope the 1.5 l Petrol engine finds its way on the Vitara Brezza as well as the S-Cross.

Definately, what was lacking for ciaz was a better engine and thats what coming in from maruti. There are no chances that maruti is in any thoughts to change their auto box from current scenario. This upcoming 1.5L petrol engine is surely going to boost some more competition in the market and good for maruti as well.

I think this s going to be the first genuine SHVS in India with a separate Lion Battery, the rest were just Diesel Remaps. It should be good for the country, only question will be life of this battery as it will be expensive to replace

The car gets LED projector auto headlamps with prominent brow-shaped DRLs. At the rear, the car looks largely similar to the existing model but gets minor tweaks to the tail lamps. Inside the cabin, the new Ciaz gets new light-colored faux wood inlays, Apart from this, the car gets a newly designed instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The instrument cluster multi-information TFT display and driving mode illumination. The car also gets passenger seat-belt reminder, reverse parking assist sensor and speed alert standard across all variants.

Under the hood, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz gets a new 1.5-litre petrol engine and the 1.3-litre diesel engine has been carried forward. Both engines come with the mild hybrid technology. The new 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 103bhp of maximum power and churns out 138Nm of peak torque and the 1.3-litre diesel engine produces 89bhp of power and churns out 200Nm of peak torque. Well, not much of a surprise as much of the specifications haved leaked.
ESP and Hill Start Assist being AT only is a bummer but they makes the AT a better equipped car as it is obviously costly than its Manual varaints.
6 Airbags on the top variant would have been a great additions atleast as a paid option on the Top variant.
Now it comes to the new 1.5l Petrol combined to SHVS needs to prove it mettle.
Well, a 4 speed AT at this time and date is surely outdated but a Torque Converter (Tuned for Fuel efficiency) is a better compromise to a AMT and a CVT.
