Maruti Alto K10 Discontinued As S-Presso Establishes Itself In The Market

s-presso-1-2.jpg

It has come to light that the Maruti Alto K10, which was essentially a more powerful version of the company’s entry-level offering, has been discontinued. With this, the Alto is now available only with the 796cc three-cylinder option. The company has stopped the manufacturing of the small car, while the dealerships are currently busy clearing the leftover stock.

The Maruti Alto K10 was available in both petrol and CNG variants, with the former being available with two transmission options – 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT. Even the S-Presso gets the same transmission options but misses out on the CNG option.

The reason for the discontinuation of the Maruti Alto K10 could be the company’s reluctance to invest in updating it to comply with the upcoming safety norms, which could be a result of the great demand that the S-Presso enjoys.

Maruti Alto K10 goes out of stock – Has it been discontinued?

maruti-alto-k10-discontinued-india-3.jpg

The discontinuation of the Alto K10 might be a letdown for some, but the S-Presso is quite a decent package for what you pay (if the Renault Kwid does not fit your bill).
As per a few dealers, Maruti Suzuki has silently discontinued the Alto K10 from its portfolio for the year 2020. The popular budget hatchback will not be updated to BS6 emission standards, but make way for its virtual successor, the S-Presso hatchback-crossover. The Maruti S-Presso is garnering good sales figures across the country. Dealerships have stopped accepting bookings for the Alto K10 and most of them have already cleared their existing BS4 stock by the end of 2019.

Compared to the discontinued Alto K10, the Maruti S-Presso is much better equipped. The crossover gets a 7.0-inch Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The S-Presso is noticeably roomier as well. There is a range of accessories and customisation choices available right from the factory. Two styling packages are also available: Energetic and Expedition.

It is to be noted that only the Alto K10 is being discontinued while the entry-level Alto (or more commonly known as the Alto 800) still remains available at an ex-showroom starting price of around Rs 2.95 lakh.

Same old news, by a different portal.
What about the Alto 800? It won't be feasible to comply with BS6 norms.
