The routes are well defined in the Google Maps, so easy to follow.
There is completely no network once you are on the ghat (Vodafone, Airtel & Jio did not work there)So, save your maps for offline.

This place is just SURREAL during the monsoons. The clouds will play hide and seek with you. After Murbad, the whole stretch is covered with a green carpet, waterfalls from every mountain,LIKE A PAINTING.
Don’t be in a hurry to reach the point, absorb and enjoy the nature and greenery all around once you cross the Murbad village.

There are very few restaurants, almost all are deserted, unclean with lots of flies, old plastic chairs and average to below average food. Home-made food is the best option to have at Malshej Ghat. Lots of people were seen doing that. Of course, there are many stalls serving Maggi, Eggs, Tea and Corn, which also disturbs the beauty of the area and spoils the nature with trash and waste.

If you are with kids, stop at the 1st three waterfalls, safe and fun for kids.
Carry Lots of snacks and biscuits with you if you are travelling with kids.

While returning I thought of using the Badlapur-Shilphata route. The route passes through a very narrow road as soon as you turn left after Murbad till you join the Ambernath-Badlapur road. Its longer but takes the same time as the traffic laden Thane-Kalyan route.

Both the routes took 4hrs.
