Mahindra is coming up with another small pick-up truck like Gio, But this one will have bigger capacity. A Piece of Information from Vicky.in -

Following the launch of gio, Mahindra would soon launch another mini truck called “Maxximo”. WHile the gio is 0.5 ton truck, the new maxximo would be 0.8tonne (800kg) truck. The styling will be unique on the likes of gio. Maximmo will be the first vehicle in India to use advanced diesel engine technology. Maxximmo will be powered by 2 cylinder,900cc, direct injection m_Hawk engine. Power and torque produced by this engine is ample to pull loads across any conditions. Maximmo develops 25bhp of peak power (approximately) at 3600rpm and 55Nm of maximum torque. The load area will be huge enough to hold 800kg of payload. The cabin design is ergonomical. Driver and a passenger can sit comfortably even for long journeys.
So, Is the Xylo looking pick-up going to be the Maxximo? Time will tell.

Why dont they launch a new kind of pickup instead of chopping a great MUV xylo. It certainly hampers the reputation of the car.

I agree with Akash.
Even Tata is also doing a similar type of mistake, the Indicruz is having a face same as Manza, I think that it may hamper its sales as the sales of Dzire got affected.Hope for the best.

Why dont these manufacturers keep a design confined to the particular model and make different designs for different models under its stable belonging to different segments.Manufacturers should take a serious note, not to copy designs and names of a particular segment model into another segment model or to the totally redesigned facelifted model of the same model.

Sharing of the same face for different segments should not be the strategy for car manufacturers now when we the buyers have so many options(substitues) in each segment.

i dont think the xylo pick up is the maxximo because maximmo is said to have a 0.8 tonne capacity. xylo pick will be much more by the looks of it. cmon, the tata ace is 0.8 tonner & the xylo pick up is not as small as a tata ace.

secondly, a two cylinder 900cc engine will be grossly underpowered for a xylo picup. infact anything under 2000cc wont do for the xylo pick up.

its not even about being underpowered vijay, the xylo pick up will be more than 1 tonne capacity.

a 700cc tata ace engine produces 16 bhp, so a 900cc mahindra's engine may produce around 20-25 bhp!

do you thing a 25 bhp engine can pull a xylo with its one tonne plus load?

the maxximo as expected is not a xylo pick up!
IMO its a good looking pick up without the awkward face of the xylo & gio.

here is the website link-
http://www.mahindramaxximo.com/

interesting features i noticed-
1) 2 cylinder CRDe engine
2) nice dashboard
3) drive by wire accelerator!!!
4) DOHC tech
5) independent front suspension with Mcpherson struts, no outdated leaf springs!
6) dead pedal, even my scorpio doesnt have one!
7) car like handbrake
8) stylish instrument console
9) its crash tested too! video in website.

price not revealed but i expect it to be in the range of 3-3.5 lakhs.
