Reva has joined hands with Vodafone for a strategic partnership to offer 'Machine-to-Machine' communication. E20 owners with a Vodafone connection can avail these services:

> Lock or unlock the car doors

> Find the nearest charging stations

> Have the Mahindra Reva Tech Help Desk remotely do prognosis and diagnostics of the car

> Get an emergency boost charge with a command on the smart phone to go an extra 8-10 kms

> Know the state of charge in the battery of their car and how far they can travel with the available charge

> Remotely control its air-conditioning and set schedules to pre-heat or pre-cool the car before they use it

> Receive alerts on various events with the car such as a disruption in charging due to power cuts, safety related reminders such as a door being left unlocked or a parking brake not applied.

Chetan Maini said:
The e2o is the first and only Indian car, and among the few worldwide, to have telematics based features that enable ‘anytime, anywhere connectivity’ between our customers and their cars. The high performance telematics solution developed by Mahindra Reva for the e2o offers one of the richest set of telematics enabled features offered on any car in the world today. We are pleased to partner with Vodafone as our exclusive Machine-to-Machine mobile connectivity solution provider. Going forward, connected car technologies will make a difference to convenience and safety, thereby making a positive impact on the way people commute and interact with their cars. We are sure that our association with Vodafone will provide an even greater value proposition to our customers and enable new innovations in this exciting space in the future”.

Reva ties up with Carzonrent to offer electric car on rent

Electric vehicles have not been able to catch much attention of the Indian customers. Now, there is a plan to allow customers to hire and drive the vehicles to highlight their affordability and eco friendliness.

Mahindra Reva, the maker of the four seater-e2o electric small car and a part of the $16.2-billion Mahindra group, has tied up with the country's largest cab company Carzonrent to offer self-drive options in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. To start with, five electric cars would be available in each of these cities that can be booked on phone like any other cab, along with additional options of online booking.

The cars would be available at multiple locations and have a charged-up drivability of 100km.

"A 10-minute test drive is not sufficient for customers to experience the convenience and benefits of an electric car. Hence, this new association will allow customers to use the e2o for a few hours or days and get an insight into this new and exciting next-generation, hassle-free mobility solution," says Chetan Maini, CEO, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles.

The E2O will be only self-driven and customers will have the options to leave the car at designated places for an additional charge. The basic charges would be 100/hour and the car would be available for 800 for an entire day.

Carzonrent would also develop around 100 charging stations in each of these cities to provide power back to potential customers. A driving licence, credit card and identity proof are mandatory to avail the service.

Mahindra e2o now priced at Rs 4.99 lakh

Mahindra has reduced prices of its e2o all-electric car following the launch of the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) scheme by the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Enterprises in collaboration with SIAM. The prices of the e2o now start at Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) instead of Rs 6.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the base T2 variant while the premium T2O Quick2Charge variant is now priced at Rs 5.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) as opposed to Rs 7.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) earlier.

The discount, according to Mahindra, will be over and above any other incentives already on offer. Currently, incentives on the e2o are offered in Delhi and NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, smart cities, and cities with population over 10 lakh as notified by the Government.

This incentive under the FAME scheme however does not extend to the battery pack as customers will still have to pay the Rs2,999 per month for the battery leasing scheme.

Under the FAME scheme, the Government of India has sanctioned Rs 795 crore for Phase 1 spanning the fiscal years 2015-16 and 2016-17. Under this scheme the government has introduced incentives for all categories of hybrid and electric vehicles with the major incentives being as follows:-

- Rs 1,800 to Rs 22,000 for scooters

- Rs 3,500 to Rs 29,000 for motorcycles

- Rs 13,000 to Rs 1,24,000 for sub-4-metre four-wheelers

- Rs 11,000 to Rs 1,38,000 for four-wheelers above 4 metres long
