Rising Chinese brand Lynk & Co has unveiled its latest creation in the Zero Concept, an outline for an electric car that's set to offer more than 700km of range when it enters production in 2021.

The production Zero will mark the first fully electric car to be produced by Lynk & Co – a premium brand that first launched in China in 2017 as a joint venture between Geely Auto Group and its subsidiary, the Volvo Car Group.

Lynk & Co describes the Zero as a "technology-oriented performance touring coupe" with a "dynamic, sporty profile" and wheelbase measuring just under three metres in length.

The production model is expected to offer "in excess" of 700km of range from a single charge (according to NEDC testing) and its 0-100km/h sprint time is expected to fall below the four-second mark.
Much like Tesla's cars, Lynk & Co claims the production version of the Zero will be able to receive over-the-air technology updates and will boast full voice integration.
Both the concept and production cars will be based on the Geely's Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), a new electric vehicle (EV) architecture expected to serve as the basis for all of the Geely's future electric models.

Geely wants an "open source" approach to its EV architecture, with plans to share SEA with other manufacturers beyond its own portfolio of brands, which currently includes Volvo, Polestar and Lotus.
The Zero production car will be manufactured out of a facility in Eastern China, but the design work for the concept was conducted in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The new EV will join Lynk & Co's existing line-up of five models, which have collectively sold over 300,000 units in the Chinese market since 2018.

Its current line-up includes the 01 SUV, the 02 crossover, the 03 sedan, the 05 SUV and the 06 SUV – several of which are available as hybrids or plug-in hybrids.

Up until now, Lynk & Co has only sold vehicles in China, but has previously outlined plans to extend its operations to Europe, with its first so-called "community hub" planned to open in Amsterdam sometime this year.

It's not yet known whether a production version of the Zero Concept would be available outside of China.
