Hi, guys.
I was happy with my old computer which was fully assembled-
LG 20" LCD monitor
G series subwoofer with 5.1 hometheator system
Iball Cabinet
eSys wizard UPS
Lenovo Keyboard
Logitech mouse
Asus motherboard
LG cd rom[lol]

Now the power cut in our area has increased and there are 3 persons in the house using computers.

So, one computer was not able to satisfy our needs. Hence, we want a computer started roaming in my mind. But lack of space to keep it again, so we need a laptop.

It would be personnally for me.
I want the following things in my lappy[evil]-

1. It should be from a trusted brand(vaio, sony) but not lenovo (we are already unsatisfied with the service of lenovo with our earlier computer)
2. It should be having an ideal screen size.
3. Which can be loaded with multimedia stuff
4. Should have atleast 2 GB ram.
5. (the worst point) Should be in a budget of 30-35k[frustration]

So, i am not a gadget freak and was not able to find a proper laptop from thenet, so here is the thread for gurus!Keep the suggestions flowing in(along with a pic of the laptop that you suggest about, if possible)

MODS: If a similar thread is lying in the forum, please merge with it. Thanks.

lxi, you and me are searching for the same thing !! I just got a quote from DELL for Inspiron 14R(i3/4GB RAM/500GB HDD) for about 35K.
for 15R(i5/4GB RAM/500GB HDD) it comes upto 41k. I sourced the quote thru a known person in DELL itself, which means I will getting some discount.
Had good reviews about the Inspiron series.

Dell Inspiron is a very good option. You can check for 14R or 15R depending on your budget. They have a very good service network in India.

Also, I have an Acer Aspire at my home with Genuine Windows 7 Home. It costed me 30K an year back. It is again a very good machine with everything listed and i3 heart.

I have
HP Compaq (Personal)
Sony Vaio (gave it to sister)
Dell Vostro 1500 (My photoediting system)
Dell Inspiron (Wife)
Lenovo Thinkpad (Official)

All these are good laptops. My Dell Vostro is 3yrs old with 2GB RAM still it works with no issues. I run PhotoShop CS4 with no problem. The multimedia components are good. All my laptops, sister's and wife's have Norton 360 Antivirus. They have no issues.

My official laptop is Thinkpad, which is too good for any abuse. It performs really well. You can get a good Thinkpad G series with i3 processor for less than 35k.

My suggestion is
Dell for its workability and support
Sony - Great product but pricey
Thinkpad - Can take any abuse, damn good.

Here is the link for thinkpad (my next laptop is going to be this! )

Lenovo - Affordable Laptop PC's for Everyday Indiae and Value|Lenovo Essential G Series|India(IN)

Please install a good antivirus once you purchase any laptop. You can buy a multiple user license too.

Drive Safe!

Lxi, if your initial investment is diverted into a good product, you can enjoy the product for many years.

Do buy the laptop from a reputed shop, and sealed piece, where battery is fixed in front of you, don't go for display piece with discounts.

You can go for lappies with atom processors, it is the cheapest and also the laptops which give you long battery backup..

Cost ranges from 11k to 17k ...[:)]

Dell is pretty cheap and reliable. I have a Sony Viao & Hp laptops at home, and if you ask me, it is far more better and yes, cheaper(than Vaio).

Hmm at those range you get Netbooks, with Intel atom processor.

Slightly increase your budget to 21k as you can get Samsung laptops with Core 2 duo processors, but without OS.
