Kia Optima (2021) Revealed For South Korea

After releasing a number of teasers, Kia Motors has revealed the all-new generation K5 sedan or the Optima for its home market - South Korea. The 2021 Kia Optima midsize shares its underpinnings with the Hyundai Sonata but gets a radical new design language that will set the tone for future cars from the manufacturer. The sedan sports the imposing new 'Tiger Nose Evolution' design language that adds the wide, three-dimensional design which integrates the grille and headlamps more organically than the previous generation model. The grille's texture has been modelled after a shark skin, while the headlamps feature a 'heartbeat' signature LED daytime running lights.

All-new Kia Optima K5 debuts, GT Variant with 2.5L turbo and 8-speed DCT

A decade after the 2011 Kia Optima, Kia Motors has revealed its all-new Kia K5 mid-size sedan. The K5 features revolutionary design, all-new safety and performance enhanced “N3” platform, turbocharged engines, optional all-wheel drive, and high-impact technology.

Going on sale this summer, the K5 will be available in four trim levels (LX, LXS, GT-Line, EX), with the adrenaline-fueled GT trim to follow later in the fall.

The two turbocharged engines options offered in the K5 include:

2.5 L turbo GDI + MPI 4-cylinder engine (294 PS and 421 Nm), paired with the new 8-speed “wet” Dual Clutch Transmission (GT variant only)

1.6 L turbo GDI 4-cylinder engine (182 PS and 264 Nm), managed by an all-new 8-speed automatic transmission (LX, LXS, GT-Line, and EX variant)

Additional highlights include:

• Suspension geometry optimized for sporty handling, responsiveness and stability
• Increased average tensile strength and additional hot stamped parts makes for a solid body in white
• Improved sound deadening materials result in a quieter and more premium cabin
• Acoustic laminated windshield standard on all K5 trims
